Never timed any of my bikes but I can say I hit 110 mph at the end of an on ramp to an Interstate w, my S4Rs from a stoplight.   Dolph

My bike is fast enough to put a smile on my face, and thats all that matters to me.

A 620 Capirex will turn 0-60 in roughly 1.2 seconds.

0-140 comes in around 2.5 seconds.

Nope.

On a long straight Nevada road...

Motorcycle Consumer News tested the 696 in the October issue.

They didn't test for 0-60...

They got 12.21@108.35 with a top speed of 129.2 mph...

Seems like a far cry from a 3 second 0-60 machine.

The numbers are better than they got for the 695 or the 620.

The article did not list the 0-60 speed but the specs and performance data page at the end or the article did.  Here is what they list:

Measured top speed 129.2 mph
0-1/4 mile     12.21 sec @108.35
0-60 mph      4.09 secs
0-100mph     10.66 secs
60-0 mph      119.5 feet
power to weight ratio    1:6
speed@65mph indicated      62.2mph

Pretty good article and spec sheet to have if you have a 696. A guy at work recognized the 696 as being the bike I had and gave me the issue.  I have never seen this mag before.  It also lists the time, parts, and labor that you should expect for standard maintenance.

Wat. Not 3 seconds? I have only one explanation. You are all orca fat. [cheeky]

Current issue of Motorcyclist ran their 696 to 60 in just under 4.

Kind of academic argument in the real world (other than to impress your car friends).   It's like comparing magazine lap times....if you took ten DMFers at random our lap times would have very very little to do with what bike each of us were on.

I knew I should have paid the $175 to run at Maxton.  [laugh]

Yours isn't a Capirex though.

It's well known that those are the only 620s capable of this sort of thing.   [thumbsup]

The only data I have for a 916 pegged 0-60 in 2.8 and the quarter in around 10.8. That was around 97, and it was good enough to run with the then-current Japanese competition (it obliterated the porky 1000s on the track test).

Those numbers sound too good to be true for a bike with 114hp, but that's what they had. They had dyno sheets from that bike and it wasn't producing any more power than it should have. 0-60 includes a shift from 1st-2nd at about 55, which makes me doubt you could get it under 3 unless you were very good indeed. Personally I find it does pull very hard up to 100 mph, then it tapers off. So maybe they are especially good for acceleration through the quarter, but not so much after that.

Not to point out the obvious, but a motorcycles power to weight ratio is dramatically effected by who is riding it. A skinny guy that goes 130 is going to get considerably better times than a guy that weighs 230. 100lbs is huge when you are talking about a 400lbs machine.

Get this.  Yesterday I'm sitting at a redlight in the left turn lane and two guys in a truck pull up next to me.  I saw them out of the corner of my eye trying to get my attention.  He said "nice bike" and I gave him a thumbs up.  Then he said "How fast is it?".  I said I dunno.  I've never topped it out.  He says and I shit you not, "260"?  I looked at him funny thinking there's no way he said that.  I said "Sorry, what"?.  He says "260"?  I looked at him puzzled and said "Are you serious? A Lamborghini can't go 260."  He had an "i'm an idiot" look on his face.  Then the light changed and I drove off.  Hilarious.  260??  WTF???

Statler

were you by any chance in Canada?   My bike likely tops out close to 260 Kph.    ;D

- No, I'm down south.  Seriously though, what the hell kind of goofball thinks a motorcycle goes 260 mph?  I had to ask him to repeat what he said b/c no way did he just ask me if my bike will go 260.  LOL
