- No, I'm down south.  Seriously though, what the hell kind of goofball thinks a motorcycle goes 260 mph?  I had to ask him to repeat what he said b/c no way did he just ask me if my bike will go 260.  LOL

Maybe he meant "to sixty" as in zero-to-sixty? Nah, I bet he was trying to sound smart and ask if it were a 260cc engine. Probably because he heard "250" and "motorcycle" in the same sentence before, except he even botched that up! 8)

No, I asked him to repeat what he said to make sure I was hearing him correctly.  He said 260, no doubt.  Cuz when I replied that Lamborghinis can't even go that fast he kind of shrugged as if he didn't know that.  This was a young guy.  Like maybe 18 or 19.

Most of the Liter Japanese bikes and the other fast bikes that we all think of as being the fast bikes that are bought in showrooms do 0-60 in under 3 seconds. 1/4 mile times for those same bikes are 10.5 seconds to upper 9s running in the 140s to 148+mph.

That info. comes from reading alot of Roadtests in Motorcycle Mags.     Dolph

I have the motogadget light dash on my bike.
One of the functions measures 0-100 KMH (which is around 60MPH I think).... my best time is 2.8sec.
I short shift into second to help keep the wheel down.
Bike is a 93 900 with keihin carbs, light flywheel and ally clutch, but otherwise standard (not for much longer!) with 80.000 K's on the clock.

The December 2008 issue of Motorcyclist magazine just published a  test for the 696.  3.92 seconds.  BTW, the article favored the M696 over the the Aprilia 750 Shiver.  Either way, fast enough to beat my brother's AMG!

and a 11.23 sec corrected 1/4 mile time @110.  That is quick monster compared to the previous entry level Monsters which typically had mid 12 second 1/4 mile times.

BiKE Magazine had the 696 doing 3.9 seconds 0-60
