7' 8" fun shape - should be perfect for the surf here in S. Fla most of the time:

I'm 6' 3" and 177 lbs - and have gotten too fat for my old 6' 6" fish!

(jeez, what a world...)

yotogi

while we welcome your company in the THCM forum, did you mean to post "here in S. Florida"?

you do know that this section is most frequented by people who live in, or near the Texas Hill Country?

I'm old and easily confused...
Say, where did my pants go?

Yeah, we moved the whole thing down there - couldn't make any money in MF and it was too far to commute to after we sold our place in Austin. Things are going much better in CC.
So, did you ever buy a new bike?

NICE!  I was trying to get into surfing, just learning a little bit here and there in the galveston surf, but then Ike came around....

good to hear things are going well in CC, you in fla at the moment, bb?

Yeah, just a brief vacation - I'll be heading home tomorrow...

Hey, man, every Texas surfer knows that hurricanes result in the best waves by FAR. We had a great summer on Padre Island, what with Dolly to the south and Ike to the north...

Hope things are getting back to normal for you Houston area folks, and everybody's well!

yotogi

have a safe trip back. sorry for my own confusion on your residency.

Hey I don't see a leash plug on that long board do I ?

Sheesh real surfers will tell you don't need leashes ......(but for the rest of us it sure beats swimming after it !!)  I used to own a Cal-Foam 6-8 swallow not unlike yours there.....it was a great stick.....yes I had a leash too !!

Hurricane waves are great out west, but if you've got a shelf/beach break in Fl.....how do they hold their shape?  And is the break wayyyy off shore ?

Always one to be underestimated

Hey, no problem - most of the time I don't even know where I live!

hell yeah its got a plug, I wouldn't buy a board that didn't! It's that black circle at the bottom...

We don't generally get great surf here in S. Fla, there's a good break up near NASA at Sebastian Inlet that's one of the best on the east coast, but the storm in the Caribbean that just nailed Cuba combined with a cold front is making for some nice glass that's not too big but is breaking all the way down the shore - my fish was useless, so I had to get a bigger board! -

My wife and I keep our boards here in Fla - the Water Street entertainment complex (featuring Executive Surf Club) in Corpus is owned by a famous local surfer - Brad Lomax. I'm afraid if he saw me with a board, he might invite me surfing and that could only lead to complete embarrassment! I took up surfing when I was stationed at Camp Pendleton for a coupla' years (half way between LA and San Diego, and close to Huntington Beach) back in the 70's, but started too late in life and am too tall to be any good at it.
Still fun, tho!

ha-ha, I actually saw a guy on a longboard riding the wake of cabin cruiser chuggin' along off-plane once on Lake Travis. I was very impressed!

yeah, free with every board - I miss the old 'bubble gum' brand I used to get on the west coast, tho. It was like Coppertone - it just smelled like summer to me.

ps - made it back to Texas intact, tho flying thru Houston was a bit hairy.
