A hardy Dr. Nick Hi Everybody. I live down in SE florida
where the temps can plummet down to an Arctic 50-60
degrees farenheit.  [beer]
My blood has thinned so much that when  I wear my
vented textile coat I am freezing. I have a straight up
harley leather from about 1986, but that sucker is smidge
too small and hot as blazes if it warms up. My querry is,
is a vented leather coat a happy medium between a vented
textile, and an old school heavy leather coat? How much air
actually gets through to your under layer?

Thanks

Coming from Phoenix, I wore my perf'd leather all year. In the winter when it got down to the 30's in the morning commute, I wore a liner and long johns and was fine....

My vented leather jackets flow a lot of air when moving, but are just like non-perfed when sitting at a light.  If it's a little cool outside, the skin under the perfs definitely feels the cold. I have, however, worn an underarmour cold-gear shirt under the jacket, and it keeps the wind off my skin.  At 50-60 degrees, you should be able to wear a perfed leather jacket comfortably, and just change layers underneath when needed.

Different brands make different thicknesses of their leather Jackets.

Alot of the Ducati leather Jackets are .8-.9mm thick some are 1.1-1.3 mm thick. ( heavier ).

Dainese tend to have more 1.1-1.3 in the U.S. but the Dainese Nevada is a lighter weight leather jacket. dainese.com. motowheels.com

Some of the leather perfed jackets don't have cold weather liners.

Decide what it is that you want , be it a Dainese 1.1-1.3 mm heavier perfed leather or a .8-.9 mm lighter perfed either Dainese or Ducati leather Jacket ( Dainese makes Ducati's Jackets ).

One w, a liner or not. The liners are removeable.

You might want to checkout the new Dainese Delmar w, the new " Bubble " lining. It supposedly maintains a cooler environment in hot weather and holds body heat in when it gets cooler.

There is a thread about the Delmar Jacket if you do a search at the top of this page.   I own one of the non perf models but it has air vents and exhaust vents and works very well.   Dolph

You might check out the Olympia GT air.  http://www.olympiamotosports.com/gt_air/gt_air.htm It's a convertible textile w/
panels front and rear that zip down to expose mesh, and just a  zippered vent in the panel if the whole panel thing is too much.
Plus a windproof, and separate thermal liner.  About $270

I have a fully perfed leather ICON jacket. I love the damn thing. It's built like a tank... with air conditioning.
It's the ICON Accelerant Perf, in all black. Has great armor, a gorgeous liner, and lots of nice features. Circa $300, and well worth every penny.
Right down to the St. Christopher pendant that is sewn into the inside chest pocket! God Bless em.

Comes in White/Black or Black/Black.
I hear that white really helps when it gets steamy out in the sun.
But black adds around 15bhp, sooo....

I have the Dainese Ducati 80's jacket which is full perf.  I run hot and find it perfect in the summer and it is comfortable down to the low 40's when I wear my North Face soft shell under it.  The soft shell is about as warm as a thin fleece and windproof.

I just bought a brandnew Ducati SummerTech Jacket from a Ducati Dealer off E-bay.

It is perforated textile that is reinforced with perforated leather panels.

I never would have bought this except for the fact that I got it @ 50 % off.

I believe this style is now discontinued.

If you fit a "Size L" Vanson (about a 46), I have a brand-new perforated jacket that I bought, but which does not fit me.  I've only worn it once and still have the tag.  They go for several hundred dollars new, but I'll accept best offer plus shipping.

Photos attached.  PM me if interested.
