What - did somebody finally go check out that old warehouse out behind the DNA HQ?     [laugh]   [laugh]

I can't blame 'em though.  If there are more people out there who want to spend ~$75k on a Desmosedici, DNA might as well sell a bike to 'em.   [thumbsup]

Didn't they "find" a bunch a extras when they made the "limited" edition of the Mike "Mike Hailwood 900 evoluzione" too? [coffee]

You don't think they just made some extras do ya?

It's tough to say - I guess the true evidence would be the serial #'s on the "found" bikes.  That's probably the only way to know for certain that they produced more than the 1500 Ducati initially promised to build.

Perhaps the bikes were kept off the market to make sure that they all sold for MSRP (or higher)?  ???  Sort of a backhanded way of keeping the markets' supply tight?

Other sources for the story, including Ducati, say still only 1500 total.   These were presold and are now available.   No specifics on that but sounds like some people bailed out when it came time to make final payment.

same over here in the UK,people bailing out due to the economic climate and bikes ending up on EBAY.

The ones new from the factory are for the same price as they have been.  (I got a call from a dealer just in case I lost my mind and wanted one).

4 have turned up in Thailand all sold out at $102,000 ( customs tax on big bikes is 270%) and more wanted by rich Thais , one was smashed up within 3 days as the guy had never ridden anything bigger than a Honda 250.

some people have more money than sense.

There's a guy in Napa (Northern California) having a "divorce sale" on his with only 300 miles on it.  He's got it on ebay and local craigslist.  I don't know what his reserve is, but I suspect he's going to take a beating on it.  There were five on ebay the last time I checked!  I know a couple of guys that have them, and it's an awesome bike for sure, but it's certainly not for the faint of wallet.  Still, it draws an incredible crowd whenever it pulls up anywhere.  And when one pulls into the local shop it's pretty insane.  One of our local guys has already had the $9k titanium aftermarket exhaust put on his and it's completely sick.  Kinda makes my Tricolore seem a bit pedestrian.
If it's got two wheels and a motor, I like it!
