Okay let me start by saying, does everybody know whats going on in the auto industry? (not one of the 2 questions)  But anyway I have been notified that at jan 31 09 I will no longer have a job. (what a f-up for ever leaving Texas)  Since I have been here in Ohio they started a 3rd shift, (thats the reason for coming here, plus the kids are in Indy)  they (GM) decided do reduce the number of cars being built. (sales are down) Then GM decided to de-rate (slow the line down to build less cars)  I made it through that round of cuts. (by the skin of my teeth).  Now they decided to drop back down to 2 shifts.  Well what does that mean to me? (again not one of the 2 question).  That means I am either gone at the end of Jan or they transfer me again. (which doesn't look like that will happen).  So now here are my 2 quetions:

1)  Does anyone know if anybody is hiring??

2) Does anybody have a spare room to rent me while I find a job?

The good news if there is any with loosing your job is that I will recieve 12 months compensation, so I will have cash and am trying to get a job asap so I can double dip for as long as possible.  (hello track bike)

Mindy will come to where ever I am, but she will wait here until Tyler finishes his senior year (may-june time frame), So I will be by myself.

So can anyone steer me in a GOOD direction??

Dang man, I'm sorry to hear your plans have been derailed. Can you maybe post your qualifications so we know what to keep our eyes & ears open for?

alan i can't help with the room as it appears we have a house guest for a few months. but if you want i can ask around to see if some of the dealers may  be hiring. i know we are always hiring service advisors but it's pretty tough work. however it is a pre-cursor to the service mngr job. we have changed our goals to just beat the market. so far for the last four months the only folks beating us in all tarrant county is 5 star ford in NRH. the man with his name on the sign came out and said we will still be here next year. we may not be selling ford's (although they look alot better than the other 2 and toyota right now) but by god we will be selling something. we had a guy come in yesterday and apply for anything he didn't care he just needed a job. he is more qualified in mngt then most of the mngrs in the whole auto group. they offered him a job selling cars and he jumped on it. what do you have in mind so i can help out?

i can have my wife ask around the hospital also.
