Hey guys,
well I had a leak so I'm demolishing my shower made of slate.  The idiots before me didn't put in a flash pan or rubber membrane throughout.  So because I'm too lazy to put slate back I need your help in finding someone who can do it and has done it.  Can you help?  PM me please.

Thanks.

;D We could totally do this but, I'm kinda occupied right now..

My advice is make sure it's all good & documented before you put in a new pan and re-tile.  Don't hook up new to something with potential problems - might want to pressure check soil pipe while you are there is all I'm saying.

Don't know a good tile guy though - I'll ask around.  [thumbsup]

Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.

I've done lots of tile work. Did all my own here in the kitchen and bath down stairs that everybody saw at the party Saturday night. You can see it in the pics CJ and Slag took. Showers are very very different than any other tile work. You MUST be water tight below the prep layer. That means you have to seal it all up really well...FIRST. Clone-man is right. I think the piping up to the wall and the drain should be fairly safe for re-installation. But, yes, do check it all to make sure the fittings are all clean, tightly fitting, and well sealed. If you can't flash it all in you might want to hire someone to do this. Then put the pan in and cement it down. Putting the tile on the walls is the easy part.

Best tip is to go to the home fixit superbox store and get the book on tiling if you're going to do it yourself. That will certainly save you from going through this again. Call me if you would like. I'm about to do another bath upstairs very soon myself.

I hate to lay tile, I hate it.

Tile really isn't that difficult other than working around problem areas ( faucet stems/pipes ).  Just some elbow grease and time.

Just used Martin's tile works last year. He did a nice job for a decent price. I would reccomend him. Pretty quick too. I did my own demo as well down to the studs but left the pan in. He took that out in about a half hour. He was here for a total of 3 maybe 4 days. solid worker too.

+1...i've done a bathroom and a kitchen.  not hard so much as just time-consuming.  and that's with two guys that hadn't really done tile work before.
