As the title suggests, my tailight is in the "on" position when I hooked up some loose wires for the rear brake.  I just had an inspection done and they worked fine.  The rear brake works as normal.  Currently, I've disengaged the front brake wires, but at a loss why this situation has arisen.  Worked on it last night, but couldn't come up with a solution.

brake light microswitch gone bad?  I am using a mechanical switch rather than the electric microswitch which tends to go bad.

Most likely the microswitch.  Mine had the same problem.  My taillight would stay on all the time, as the switch wouldn't disengage properly.  Had to eventually replace the assembly.
