Napoleon Bar Ends?

I know some folks have put these on their Monsters.  I'm thinking of getting a pair of these instead of CRGs (mainly because I don't want to have to fool with flipping the CRGs in and out when I split lanes.)

Has anyone installed the Napoleons so the mirror is angled inward over the bars, rather then out?  I don't want to install in a way that makes the mirrors + bars wider than the stock set up (again for lane splitting reasons.)  If anyone has done, how's the visibility with that set up?  Thanks,

Yes.

If it wasn't snowing, I'd take a better pic from the front, but I know others have done this.

when my wife gets home with her car, I'll take a picture of mine from rider POV so you can see the field of view.

RBX - how's the visibility with that set-up?

Privateer - thanks for the pics.  They look great.  I'm concerned about adding more length to my bars though...

Your welcome.

With the mirrors pivoted 'in' it only adds.. maybe an inch, maybe two, past the end of the bars.  The arm itself is about the length of a bar slider, and the mirror pokes out a little past that.

I actually hit a MBZ mirror the first day I had those mirrors on, but since then I haven't, but I'm more careful about what cars I split.

The visibility is about the same "in" or "out" and they're pretty inexpensive.  I might some day get the oberon mirrors, which is what I really wanted, but couldn't justify the expense.

Visibility is great with them turned in... The stockers gave me good views of my elbows, but these only show my elbows on the very inner edge of the mirror.

Night and day, and super cheap upgrade.

I've got 'em on my 695 and love 'em, and yes, I turn them in. Great visibility and no more than an inch wider on each side. I rarely have lane-splitting issues.

They can also take quite a beating.

Sturdy little buggers, great view, inexpensive, I recommend them.

Just make sure you tighten them down really well when you mount them. I didn't at first and my right mirror used to rotate down at highway speeds.

Removed, relocated, re-mounted and it was all good.

I can't wait until Marquez gets on his level and makes Jorge trip on his tampon string.

I run my mirrors pointing out usually but just before I split I turn them up and slightly in. Just reach out and turn them, nothing to it. After a few times you get used to doing it and can turn them in and still be able to see things w/o readjusting.

anyone have these on the 696? i am considering these since mostrano has them on sale right now.

Grrrly

you can also run with them tucked "up and in" similar to a truck, on 2001chromo's "beauty".

I run mine under the bar on my "beast", but I think this works better for shorty people like me. lol

Anyone else have to drill their bars to make the mirrors fit? The previous owner had Napoleons on my bike already drilled the bars but when I dumped the bike a while ago and replaced the bars I had to re-drill them myself.  :-\ They sell them w/ an adapter that fits the stock 1/4"dia (I think) hole bar, right? I think the previous owner just got the wrong size and I haven't gotten around to getting the "correct" ones.

Instead of drilling the bars you can reduce the size of the rubber and nut to fit your bar.  Either cut the rubber down or take a trip to the parts store and get some appropriately sized hose and new nuts.  Always mess with the cheaper or less important part.  If you screw up it won't be as bad.

Raux

so are you saying the Napoleons don't fit the 696 bars withouth modifications?
