Hello all

Christopher here from beautiful (and frigid) Prince Edward Island. Mighty fine spot you have here - please, have a doughnut.

I have been lurking for a while, having caught  Duc fever again. A much-loved FatBoy has given way to a gorgeous  s4rs which arrived last week - an 07 the good folks at Atlantic Motoplex tricked out with a full set of termis and a few other goodies while it did service as a demo. It shares the garage with an 08 VROD (gotta love that Porsche motor though it doesn't seem quite as quick as it once did). the other half's 06 Sportster and a really neat 03 Ural Northern Patrol which makes it possible to scratch the itch even when the snow is blowing.

Thanks for your help: I learned a lot here before pulling the trigger on that bike. I have no doubt I will be learning a lot more

Welcome Christopher, congrats on your new S4RS! [thumbsup]

Got any pictures?  Would also love to see your Ural too. ;D

Stay warm!

My friend bought a Multistrada the day I bought the s4. Rather chilly November day. If this works I'll try uploading a pic of the Ural.

Ain't it great when technology works? Trying the Ural now, from an autumn rally...

Hi Locke -
Congratulations on the S4Rs. You have a beauty of a bike there! [thumbsup] Sounds like your garage hs got all the bases covered - a pure Italian, a German-American and a Russian. Nice!

I'm in Nova Scotia. Dunno if the good people at Atlantic Motoplex mentioned that there's an active group of Ducati enthusiasts in the Maritimes but you're very welcome to participate in any of the events we put on. I'll PM you some details about the newly organized East Coast Ducati Club and how you can get involved in case club stuff is of interest to you.

Enjoy the new bike. You'll have lots of time to oogle it this winter.

Thanks, both. And thanks for the club info Markus, which I have shared with my chum, the proud new Multistrada guy. We will certainly be interested in events in the Maritimes. I have bumped into two other Ducati riders on the Island: both were on Monsters but one has since traded to an STx, I believe (since end of season so I haven't seen it yet - just saw his trade at the dealer). It will be a long few months if we don't get a decent Chinook, but I suppose the time can be well-spent researching and buying farkles and catching up on the Ducati world. I will be asking questions elsewhere on what, where, how and how much.

I hope Father Christmas was as good to you all as he was to me.

...nice bike Locke ... s4rs  [moto]

nice to see some other northerners; there quite a few but they don't like to show where they are; as an aside; the old duc monster form was bought out and commercialzed by a Ca dude; who is not so popular here ... but there a friendly, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, great group here, that you'll be happy to associate with.

welcome cheers Dave
.... all the world is yours.

All good! It'll be cool to meet you at some point in the next few months. We're planning an ECDC group meet-up at the Moncton bike show in February. Which day/time has yet to be determined but if you're available you'll have a chance to meet some of the people involved with the club, including me. As I mentioned in the PM, just send me your email addy and I'm make sure you are added to the club email list.

If you're a modifying/tinkering kind of guy you've found the right website. The DMF has a ton of very knowledgeable members who are happy to help you spend your time and money on your Monster. Check out the "Tech" and "Accessiories and Mods" sections for that kind of stuff. Many of the site sponsors listed on the left hand tool bar give member discounts if you tell them you're on this site so give them a shot first. It may save you a few bucks.

Don't worry too much about the anti-Canadian sentiment DuciD03 alluded to. Most of the American DMFers understand that a few bad Canadian apples (we'll call those wormy ones  "Vertical Scope") do not a bad country make. ;)

Thanks, DucID03. I actually learned to ride in the lane splitting heaven of London where a bike was the only way to beat the rush hour. So half of me thinks the ur-bike is a bobber and the other half a cafe racer. But I do believe London is even north of where I am now in Paradise (aka PEI). I envy you your longer riding season and rather more vertical geography.

Markus, I hope you got my email response to your PM. If not, PM me again and I'll resend. We will be at Moncton for sure. Last year Moncton was the same weekend as (whisper it not in the Rialto) HOG WinterBlues so we did Friday at the show and zapped up to Halifax on Sat a.m. If you let us know when your meet is, we'll be sure to be there.

A HOG rally? The shame! [laugh] j/k of course.
I have a not-so-secret desire to own both a Road King and a V-Rod. Maybe one day.
PMed you with email details.

Thanks, Markus. Responded to the email addy. I have somehow managed to live down the shame ;-)
