M.O.B. 2008 CRASH-TICKER

Crash-free for:

60 days: 2/28,
6 days: 3/4,
18 days: 3/22,
41 days: 5/5,
5 days: 5/10,
43 days: 6/22,
15 days: 7/7,
21 days: 7/28,
3 days: 7/31,
35 days: 9/4,
20 days: 9/25,
4 days: 9/29,
41 days: 11/9,
52 days: 12/31

The days in red indicate how many days we went without crashing on the street.  Track crashes don't count because, well, if you gotta bin it, doing it at the track is preferable--not encouraged--but better.  The date at the end of the line indicates the last crash-free date of that particular run of days.  I'll have to hunt down the other years that I've done.  It's interesting to see them side by side.  I believe we had at least one death this year.

Here's to a safe 2009.   [beer]

Hopefully we start off 2008 without a crash on the first day of the new year...last year we weren't so lucky.  [laugh] Happy New Year everyone!

note the last comment.   [laugh]

Quote from: Mostrobelle;1697870Here's the tally for the year kids. The numbers are a little off... [laugh] Somehow I ended up with 377 days in there and I'm too lazy to track down the error. Besides, it's a new year, so who cares.  [cheeky]

M.O.B. 2006 CRASH-TICKER
Crash-free on the street for
3.18: 76
3.29: 11
4.22: 24
5.19: 27
6.11: 23
6.27: 16

11.05: 15
11.23: 18
11.30: 7
12.29: 27
12.31: 1 days so far

The stats:

We had 14 crashes total
We had one guy get mowed down by a crazy dude in an SUV and walk away from it. [thumbsup]
We had two guys crash twice
We had one bike get crashed twice in one week, by the same guy who crashed twice this year [laugh]
We had a number of folks new to the sport have minor crashes
We had one veteran to the sport have a minor crash
We had one bike completely wadded by a still unknown rider
We had one major injury-accident  :(
We had no fatalities  :)

I believe two of these crashes were p.m.'ed to me. I did not post the details at the time and will not do so here. It would be interesting for people to step up and claim their crashes, however. ...maybe link to the thread where they talked about it or use this as an opportunity to finally 'fess up? [cheeky] (It might be cathartic!) It would also be nice to get my ticker a bit more accurate if it's off, so please correct me if you note an error. Note any other interesting stats in your replies if you like.

Happy New Year! Here's to keeping the shiny side up and a safe 2007.  [thumbsup]

So far, not so much.

jiminy christmas...  [bang]  [laugh]  Although the guy isn't a MOBster I tend to agree with Spidey that it's one thing if you and some buddies just go out and someone none of us has ever heard of eats dirt.  I think posting up a ride says, "This is a MOB ride and the actions of anyone going on it reflects on the group and the organizing MOBster takes responsibility for what happens on it."  At least that's how I've always felt about it.  I'm gonna play Switzerland in this.  If the group feels that it doesn't count, then it won't show up.

technically ... since i was the bastid that originally organized this ride (then had the balls not to show up, due to bike issues), AND since i am not officially a MOBster (no monster, ya see) ... then, i say this incident does NOT count against the crash ticker.

just my 2 euro cents worth on the matter  [popcorn]

Nice try.  [cheeky]  Bike make/model doesn't define a MOBster.  Many have moved onto inferior machines and yet still dare to associate with us.   [roll]  [laugh]

Umm another one, i plowed into DATV at the MX track. His knee is a little bent and my thump tried to touch my wrist. He deserved it, he tried to pinched me off against a telephone pole, then tried to take my head off with his swingarm. I bent his rear rotor for his troubles.  ;D

Dirt crashes soooooo do not count.  'specially if you take out datv in the process.  [evil]  That's like a -1 crash for the ticker.

It's the public street crashes we want to avoid, folks.  Slamming into dirt at Hollister and launching yourself off of turn 9 at T-hill are perfectly acceptable.  It's the smashing into guardrails, off of 600' cliffs, into oncoming traffic, little old ladies, small dogs, little old ladies walking small dogs that we want to heartily discourage.  If you take out DATV in the mud or if you're on a Buell and decide that Spidey's neck might make a good parking spot while on the track, well that's just fine.  Those knuckleheads know what they signed up for.  Hell, they paid money to do it.  What's uncool is you trying to get your laptimes down on 84 and making yourself Joe Q. Blow's hood ornament in the process.  It's a waste of a perfectly good bike and Joe was really looking forward to catching the 20 minutes of Oprah, not talking with the LaHonda Fire Dept. who's had to make a quick run out to wipe up the pavement stain that was formerly known as YOU.

Bullshit.  We should heartily encourage slamming into old ladies and small dogs.  The rest of that stuff-- guardrails, cliffs, front fenders, etc.-- you're right on.

So we can then sue the city for making the cross walks safe for old ladies and small dogs, but not for motorcyclists?
