Bike lifts

After having my 3rd rear tail light break off within a year and being put to shame by Loony's "you could eat your dinner off it" clean S4R yesterday, I've decided that the monster needs a full going over. I'm going to strip her down and clean her up and replace all of the little bits that get tatty over the years.

With this in mind I'm keen on getting a bike lift/table where I can lift her up and strip her down. Does anyone have any recommendations? There does not seem to be too  much around. Flywheels are a distributor for some decent tables but I suspect that they will be way outside of my budget. I was hoping to get away with one for less that $1K. Ideally I'd like one that can lift the front/rear up while one the table so that I can drop the wheels out easily.

Cheers

These sort of things arent bad. They are Chinese but seem to be ok for the home mechanic.  [thumbsup]

One of the guys at work has one and hasnt had a problem with it.  ;)

Check out the Bike Trader Mag for ads for these things.  ;D

Mate I use one of these:

The stand clamps to your foot pegs and the front cylinder rests on a padded support. It allows you to remove almost everything off the bike so you can clean to your hearts content.

My Duc looks like this with it:

Well, I'm off to clean my bike after yesterdays sojourn.

Paul do you have any idea of prices for the Handy lifts?

Mick any reason you went for the blue lift over the red one? Not sure I like the weight of your bike resting on the fins!

Cheers guys

err.............no mate, no idea really. it's best for me to stay ignorant cos i'm not paying for it and i know it's gonna be pricey!!! i do know though, that it has the panel that drops away below the back wheel and it's air operated, at least, the one i'm getting is.
i'm looking forward to getting it, i did an oil and filter change after a good scrub and i am over rolling around on a concrete floor.

anderson or sharp (i forget now) are making some around the $4,500 mark that are very nice.  the only ones that passed bmw's oh&s requirements apparantly.

we had some of the chinese ones for displaying bikes at work and the ramps used to sag when raised with a bike on them as the ramp mount wasn't connected to the frame.  only needed a little bit of angle to make it much stronger.

We have one like the Hnady lift except you pump it with your foot, they make it so much easier to clean and service your bike and when you take the pipes off to polish them. ;D
