helmet on?  ;D ;D

Rode from SF to Carmel last week-end and forgot the iPod...ended up doing something I thought I would *NEVER* do outside of the shower... I started humming (really badly) in my helmet out of sheer boredom...

so who else wants to 'fess up?  [cheeky]

I don't ride with an iPod...it's distracting, it's dangerous, and it's mostly illegal in CA.

So singing inside your helmet is perfectly acceptable.

Totally, unconditionally, incontrovertibly, and "Thank-god-you-can't-hear-me" guilty of this.   [laugh]

Beat boxing, singing "move pregnant dog get out da way, get out da way" or "Move upside and let the man go through" while lane splitting, mooing at cows, or just singing horrible little made up ditties.  Whatever it takes to keep myself entertained.   [laugh]  [laugh]

The worst is singing in your helmet at a stoplight, and realizing that a convertible just pulled up next to you with the top down... and yup, they can hear every off-key note.   [thumbsup]   [popcorn]  [clap]

I sing almost everytime I ride. For some reason I sing the chorus to "Going the Distance" by Cake at least once per ride, and I hate that song and that band  ???

Um, dangerous? From the guy who wheelies/stoppies/drags knee on the road? Huh?  Pot meet kettle.   [laugh]

*opinion warning* Riding with an Ipod is even less dangerous then having a radio in a car, turn on Ipod, hit shuffle, ride. No station changing, basically have to pull over to fiddle with the thing, overall far less to worry about.  And since you should be wearing ear plugs on the highway anyway, having music playing doesn't really make much a difference in your overall awareness level.

And it definitely helps avoid embrassing things like having to discuss what songs you end up singing in your helmet without it.   [laugh]

Riding with music makes me ride more aggressive depending on the song that pumps me up.

I try to stay away from tunes like that.  ;D

I've never ridden with my iPod before ... just earplugs.. so I do find myself humming along quite a bit ... mooing at cows ... or cursing at the prius in front of me.

It's illegal...and just try convincing a cop that you had only one earplug in ;D

I've personally seen a pile-up of Monsters caused by wearing an iPod while riding. I figure that I'm going to do wheelies & stoppies anyway, and I don't want Iggy Pop screaming in my ear, pumping the adrenaline, when I do it...that'd be overkill [evil] So I don't like riding with iPods.

And car stereos are distracting too...you may have a point, but that doesn't make iPods any less bad on motorcycles.

Well, until you put the wheel down for a turn.

I'll worry about being pulled over for having headphone lines running into my helmet about the time I start seeing/hearing about people being pulled over for being on a cell phone.   [laugh]

With the Ipod pile up, was the guy playing with it? Distracted by the music? Or just not paying attention in general? Because not paying attention never happens without an outside distraction.   ;)

Good on you for not wanting to be distracted, though I suppose it's not too much of an issue when you only ride more then 30 miles away from SF once a year.    ;D
