Fate of my 696

I wanted to add a bike that would be more convenient for 2 day trips, and running errands than my 696. Purchased a 2008 Multistrada 1100s before year's end. Now the question is whether this bike complements the 696, or whether to seek to sell the 696 before spring. Will almost certainly part with a 2008 Honda CB250 Nighthawk which has served its purpose.

Feel free to PM, but I am curious about value of 696 should I decide to sell it. Under 2000 miles, Termis, DP seat, DP tailbag, Carbon in front of slip ons, and on exhaust. I just want information, I may well keep the bike - it is great. I'd keep the Honda, too, just as a learning bike or beater, but it's getting crowded around here. I live in Eastern MA which means I spent three hours this morning blowing snow. Happy New Year.

I have both a multi 620 and a monster 900.  The multi will easily serve the long trip purpose.  It's very comfortable.  You can also have a lot of fun with the multi.  I'm always surprised at how well it handles.  The multi is the only bike I've owned that i didn't have to change or modify the stock seat.

If you want to keep one of the bikes and cost isn't an issue, keep the monster.  Some days you just want to go out and rip up some turns.  And if a track day is in your future, the 696 is a good starting point.

If cost is an issue get rid of both the monster and the 250.  The multi will tear it up just as good as the monster.  (but it doesn't look as good as a monster.)

Pretty much decided that the Multi was going to be the primary bike. Glad that Red Duke believes the bikes are complimentary. Stiil, I don't know much about bike economics. Money would not be the main issue for selling or buying. It's more a question of how many I feel I can have at a time without feeling guilty. The Honda will go. My questions are: (1) keep the 696 or plan on getting something (or nothing) to replace it; and, (2) in the NorthEast, what is the best way to sell, and what if any value do add-ons have - or what is it worth as trade or sale, and best time to do it (which I suspect is the spring). Thanks.

I've had luck with ebay.  Sold two bikes with no problems.

And you can always post it here.   http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?board=9.0

add-on's will not give you a good return on investment. either write them off, or remove and sell them separately.

and dont worry about the guilty feeling. its not as bad as the feeling that you should have kept the bike...

OK, I won't worry about guilt. But I'd still like a guess at reasonable price direct sale or trade, now or in spring. Too much trouble to take off the termis. Everything else stock.

OT: I've had it with New England weather.  [puke] Ready to move west.

I don't understand how you can bear having a new motorcycle and not be able to ride it.  I would go out of my mind.  Who am I kidding, I'll go out of my mind anyway in a month or so, unless global warming really kicks in.

red duke,

It isn't a problem, really, because if I weren't already out of my mind, I wouldn't have bought it in the first place. [beer]
