I'm lazy or whatever, so I don't put on my protective pants for short commutes and shopping. My plan is to get Draggin jeans or Shift LoDown with the Kevlar reinforced areas, but they seem to come without knee armor.

I thought strap on knee armor would be alright, since these jeans are so loose and any permanent armor will probably slide away from an impact.

Suggestions?

BTW - where do I shop online for Draggin jeans (US)?

aerostitch had some on sale recently. I bought a new pair on ebay for $60. I'd also like to get some knee protection.

I've always been partial to T Pro although I don't have the strap on knee armor from them.   Looks like they have 2 available one straps on and the other is a knee sleeve.

[edit]  you can probably get this direct from the UK or EU since I believe its a British company.

Thanks,

I found Draggin at Aerostich, but MotoStrano have both Shift jeans and some very affordable EVS knee armor  [thumbsup]

I do that.  I'll have to get back to you on which knee/leg armor I got.  Personnally I prefer the ones that strap/snap on and are hinged with protection for the knee and shin.  Do a google search for motorcycle knee armor.  I always really liked the POD MX but damn $300 per leg.  I may still end up getting them later on.  Oh and you might get ribbing when you gear up at work.  Something about putting on my storm trooper gear or something to that effect.  [cheeky]

alpinestars and dainese both make some.
Or there's the Bohn adventure pants.

I'd stay away from the Icon knee/shins.

At the moment I'm leaning towards the Shift LoDown reinforced jeans from MotoStrano, $70.
Plus EVS Option Knee Guards, black with red foam, also from MotoStrano, $14.

I like the look of these Dainese protectors as well.  Looks like there's extra padding for the outside and inside of the knees.  Looks like they also come in different sizes as well.

I have those Dainese jobbers.
They fit well, and are comfy under jeans.
And they definitely feel as though they will do a better job of protecting me than the armour that came with my Cortech MOD denims.

Why avoid the Icon Field Armor? Same protection as the Dainese or others pictured above, good closure system, what's wrong with them?  I've had a set for almost 3 years and they have held up very well (in excess of 20k miles w/ them on), stayed in place and did their job perfectly for 2 low-speed get-offs, and they fit very well under my jeans.

YMMV, but I've had great results.

I am using Dainese 3X Leg Armor right now with Draggin Jeans.

I bought the Jeans online at the Draggin site since they did not have the design I liked in the US yet.

The Leg Armor is very comfortable. I sometimes walk around all day with it on since it does take a little while to get on and off.

Totally forgot about this thread.

But here's what I wear:
Alpinestars Bionic SX Knee Armor

I wear them over my jeans.  Too bulky to wear under.

ghosthound

while looking at knee/shin protection i came across a man with a trampstamp.
