Aaron, very positive news indeed....as the initial prognosis wasn't very pretty.......

Good thing you did not take your boot off......

Yeah, I know what you mean about the initial prognosis. I was pretty sure that it wasn't broken at that time, but wasn't so sure by the time I got home. That adrenalin kick didn't make it the whole hour out.

Holy crap, I know about the boot. The boot was the only thing that made me able to ride. My foot probably went to 50% bigger as soon as the boot was off.

dude that sucks man, heal up quickly and be sure to fight off any symptoms of Post Accident Depression (tm)............wouldn't want to have you 'prod ya....

aah those pictures made me so jealous!

Yotogi, unfortunate to hear about your accident.  Good thing that you more or less were able to walk away from it.  But if you ever do find yourself punting the bike on a ride, you can find comfort in knowing that you did it in the company of the Austin crew.  Paul and Tim can always MacGyver your bike to make it back to civilization.

Cool pics BTW.

Did someone say the Three Sisters?  ;D
Are the Houston outcasts allowed to participate?

Thanks Red. And don't worry Ghostie, I will be back on 2 wheels probably before I am back on 4. The more I think about it, the more I think that I scared myself off the road (being afraid of going off while turning) when I might have been able to make it. I really need to spend some time with more experience riders or instruction, I think that I am locking up in turns.

<END THREAD JACK>

Sorry to hear about the get off yotogi. You couldn't have a better group with you, like Red said above.
Just curious, when you "lock up" are you referring to target fixation or are you physically not turning/moving your body/head in the direction you want?

I think that when I realized the turn wasn't what I expected, I target fixated on the edge and that is where I went. I was aware of being on the brakes and had the bike up straight which is probably the only thing that saved me from sliding out as opposed to dropping. In this situation, it was both I imagine. I realized the turn wasn't what I expected, I target fixated straight, I ended up in a stiff position and drop.

I need more practice. I am still too tight while riding and my lack of confidence was likely what caused me to go off.

The "TURN" is the notorious 1st right hander on Fischer Store Road.......crappy asphalt right up before it turns into new pavement......

That turn looks to be a gentle right hand kink that all of a sudden tightens up into a 90 degree oh my gawd bed wetter.....

And yes, Frank, Joe, Vinnie Alvin et al, you've been through it........

Hey Houstonians.....3 Sissys anyone??  The San Anonio boys SAS2R & Ducaholic have requested our presence [thumbsup]

yikes looks like a tight one. Thanks for the heads up, I dont think I have been down that road yet. Is there a 3 sisters run??

Gonna have to miss a few more rides than I hoped. The foot is likely going under the knife next week and I don't suspect that I will be back on 2 wheels for 6-8 weeks. I will try not to be a stranger though!

gh0stie

bummer yet again...........but on the positive side, it'll be like the bionic foot after the surgery..........rebuilt, bigger, faster, stronger!

could even get your money's worth and have em make it steel this time around........that way you won't have to deal with such pesky injuries in the future..........

who needs steel toe boots when you've got steel toes

I love the easy access and diversity of "fun" roads down there, but being unfamiliar with them or their condition is something I could do without.

I may be able to get away for a weekend in March for a 3 sistas run. Perhaps we should start a new thread to gauge participation, interest, and set a date.

Where's el Bruto when ya need him?! Did anyone take notes from that dude last time?

El Bruto....dude had the "kit"  thing going on, didn't he?

"hey, I wish we brought....."  ""Oh, no problem, I've got that right here!""  WTF?  The dude was like Super Way Over the Top Camp Pack Guy ....and it all fit into 3 plastic tubs.....Effin' amazing...

Yoto:  Knife???  Ques'que C'est??  If it ain't broken, what's wrong with you??

Yeah, March sounds cool....but are you H-town boyz thinking weekend?  We were just gonna be snobs and daytrip.......however, if the glove fits, we must commit, so I'd be down.......new thread for sure......

I'm so ready for a weekend 3 sisters run but as of yesterday it looks like I'm set for a lovely 4 week stint in Asia.  If I can make the trip I will.  I should know more when I complete my travel arrangements in the next couple of weeks.

I used to have a problem with freezing up.  I have gotten pretty good about working past it.  For me it was more of a mind control issue than anything else. I would come into a corner faster than I was comfortable with and stand the bike up.  I still get into uncomfortable situations, all of us do, but you just have to trust the bike and yourself and ride it through.  Do a riders edge course.  I think they are around 125 bucks. I plan on doing one in the next few months.
