Desert Ducatisti - January Meeting

When: 6:30PM, Tuesday, January 27, 2009.
Where: Ducati Superstore, 5640 North 7th Street, Phoenix AZ 85014 - 602-864-1437

Agenda: Local vintage Ducati enthusiast, Mike Fruciano, will present on his Moto Giro competitions and show his 1959 175 TS Giro Racer.  The presentation will include short movies and photos from the events and restoration of the bike.

The Moto Giro has rich racing history dating back to the early 1950’s.  Post war Italy was rebuilding and the 5 day endurance races ran from town to town.  Manufacturers competed for the glory of being fast and durable using small displacement, affordable machines.  Today the Moto Giro lives on as a celebration of racing legend in the form of a time-speed-distance road rally.

Mike’s Giro Racer has competed in 4 Giros including the 2008 Moto Giro America recently chronocled in the December issue of Cycle World.  The bike features all the go fast goodies from the '50s as well as some modern day instruments for rally competition.  The Giro Racer was also on display at the 2008 Legends of the Motorcycle show.

-----> Ducati Superstore will be providing dinner on the grill, so please REPLY so we can let them know how many to expect.  Thanks! <-----

ALSO, later next week, we hear the Hypermotard truck will be out at Tortilla Flat for test rides...  Ducati Superstore will have more info for us on that at the meeting.

A racing presentation, free food, and info on Hyper demos... Don't miss it!

OK, we have about 24 planning to attend, so far.  Remember, you don't have to be a member to participate -- come on out, say hello, and meet some fellow Ducatisti!

I'll be there.  Might have a noob with me too.  Rides a 695 dark and may need new brake rotors.  Pads are shot, grooves are present, possibly warped.

Not sure I can make this one...  :-\  Schedule conflict.  Looks to be a really cool meeting too!  We'll see....

Awright!!  Thanks to everyone who came out to the meeting -- especially to Mike F. for the great presentation!  It was our biggest meeting in recent memory, with right at 35 attendees.  Also, a big thank-you to Ducati Superstore for the hospitality, venue and chow!

Dave,

I've been getting to know the local group of Ducati riders down in Tucson and they are interested in working with you and Dietrch to get something together where they might host an event that thier local shop.

I'll see some of them today and will email you with specifics and contact info.

Would be cool to plan a big Mt. Lemmon ride in a few weeks once temps stay consistently high.
