Any machinists of engineers out there?  I need a 56mm bottom triple, and I'd rather not spend mega $$$ going to custom triples, but I will if I have to. [laugh]

Forks are 50/56, and perfect for what I want to do (price wise as well)  [thumbsup]

I've done it on my bike.  Just take it to a local machine shop and they should be able to do it.

Be advised that many people will tell you not to do it.  Mines be good to go for 3 years or so.

Yes. Ignore the naysayers. The bottom triple is already 54mm. Boring it out by 2mm will not comprimise a thing.

Bacardi and cola. Do it. Do it.

3 ways to go, all are retarded overkill for a street bike.

1st way, 07' gsxr forks w/25mm ohlins cartridges, $1200 ish w/calipers and lines

2nd way, Ohlins R&T forks w/bored lower triple, $1700 w/calipers/lines

3rd way, Ohlins R&T forks w/speedymoto billet triples, $2200 (ouch!)

I'm leaning towards number one, I can keep my triple, won't have to depend on a machine shop, and will spend 500-1000 less.  25mm carts are the same thing that are in the R&T forks as well, although the full on bling bling bonus isn't there.......

As far as I know speedymoto won't/can't do 56mm triples so might not be an option.

Resale is better on real Ohlins vs kitted ohlins otherwise they ride the same to me.

monsta

I bored mine to fit the ohlins.
took about an hour to do, its not a big job for the local machine shop...

speedy has both 53/56 (SBK) and a 50/54 (monster).  I was talking with them today about selling me a mix, 50 top, 56 bottom.  I could always get the SBK size (53/56) and just sleeve the top to fit.

Both the price on the gsxr forks w/25mil kit (1K), or the full R&T (1500) are pretty darn good.....

You guys bored out the TOP triple though, correct?

Ohlins R&T forks are ~$2675, top & bottom Speedymotos are ~$1200, per Motowheels

I did top and bottom, but the bottom is an aftermarket billet one.

LOL, brembo 108mm calipers are $2400 to start, no way I'd spend that kind of coin on brakes, street or track. [laugh]  Those tokico radials are good enough to haul down a 180mph 400lb gsxr1K, they will surely work on a monster  [thumbsup]

Not sure when the calipers came into the equation though, was always about the triples

foggy123

Sbk lower has different offset than monster so be careful mixing and matching.
You can get Brembo hp calipers on ebay for ~1k in 108mm spacing.  Less for the monobloc cast one.  Billet monoblocs are in a different price league.

TAftonomos

Can get the tokico's for $50, shave and powdercoat them.  Maybe later pick up a set of the HP's..... didn't think you could get them for that.

FIgured out that SBK triples won't work, even with a custom stem. Problem is we are going the wrong way on the offset....33mm is SBK offset, 30 is monster....if moving it we need to reduce it, not increase it, so the SBK triples are out.  I could find a set of the 27mm triples for SBK, and then have a custom stem made, but I'm right back at 1K or more after all that, in which case the SM or custom triples would be easier/less hassle.

Of course, shelving the entire thing, and getting some 750 forks with the ohlins carts in them already would save me the trouble of all of this  [laugh]
