Finding TDC on 2000 M900Sie?

Using the ProItalia video but am not finding the two holes in the flywheel that mark TDC for the V-cylinder on my 2000 M900Sie.  There are several holes throughout the flywheel and it seems like the TDC mark is really a little hatch mark in the flywheel, rather than a punched hole.  If I stick a feeler into the spark plug hole, I can feel the piston come up and then begin to go down right after the hatch mark.  If I use the nearet hole, it feels like the piston is still traveling up (though the movement is so slight, it is hard to tell).

Has anybody found TDC marked on their bike (2000-01 M900) with a hatch mark instead of one of those holes?

The cam drive pulley (just north of the oil fill cap) has a punched hole in it to align for the Horz cylinder.  For the Vert cylinder, I put the punched hole in that pulley 'in-line' with the Horz cam pulley or nearly horizontal to the earth.  That's how I do it.

But, based on your description of what the piston is doing as the mark (groove, punch, hole, slash, what-have-you) goes by indicates that the mark you're refering to is in fact the TDC mark for the vertical cylinder.

Keep in mind, the PI video was made about a decade ago.  Things change inside the engine...the marking may have changed is what I'm sayin since the video was shot.

Thanks, Duck-Stew.  That ProItalia video is pretty ancient, it's true.  I had a Nichols flywheel on the last 2000 M900 motor I had (don't ask what happened to that, but let's say I don't like the highway any more).  The Nichols had the convenient holes punched close to one another -- looks like this is the stock flywheel on this bike.  Maybe it's time to strip the old one off and stick it on this bike.

At any rate, the intake closer just needed to be raised .10mm and the opener had to be sanded down to make the .10mm clearance spec.  The motor turns freely at the crank (did not take the belts off) and the closer can be turned by hand at the hatch mark.  Looks like all is well.
