i got to try on the leather pants in his upstairs bathroom. It was about 110 degrees up there, and trying to get off tight leather pants in a hot small bathroom was awesome. that guy rules.

"small, hot bathroom"??   I hope he wasn't in the bathroom with you at the same time.  You're a married man fer cripes sake . . . (LOL).

Gene Brown is a cool guy. 8)

I bought my first motorcycle from him, a '87 CBR 600 Hurricane, I rode that thing for 8 years/40,000+ miles. [moto]

I was talking to Dick Winningstad, and when Dick was OMRRA President in the 80's, they had to make two "Gene Brown" rules.

1:  The horn had to be on the bike, but disconnected (Gene would honk at people that he wanted to pass) [laugh]

2:  The taillight had to be TOTALLY covered with tape (Gene would leave a small square untaped, and then lightly touch the brakes to activate the brake light way ahead of the brake markers in turn 1, while sitting up, most of those right behind him would brake way early, and Gene would keep on the gas.) [evil]

Both of these rules applied to production classes, at that time you had to keep the lights and horns and such on the bike to pass tech.

Did you know that Gene once managed to talk his way into racing GP at Laguna Seca?

When I was racing, I used to honk when needed.  I always honked at the corner workers at the end of a session.  It gets peoples attention who need it.

I had a friend drive into a corner only to discover his brakes no longer worked.  After 3 months in the hospital, I started doing something that freaked a lot of drivers out.  Going down long straights and sections with no run out room, I put my left foot on the brake half way down a straight, just to make sure I still had brakes and time to do something about it.  I still check my brakes on the street when driving with spirit.  After going through a puddle and after running on rumble strips they cut in the road to wake up sleepy drivers.  All those things play with pads in rotors.

I like safety!  [thumbsup]
