Have any of you ever done this?

It seems like a cheap way to get a truck or an expensive way to buy garbage.  This is the place in Oakland - http://www.abimpound.com/auction.html

Does it seem sketchy?

I've been to a couple of these, but never bought anything. With used vehicle prices so low, I'd stay away. At least you can test drive something off of craigslist.

If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

The auction says it ONLY has 1 axle....  :o

oh yeah, CAKERS!  :P

Blake

Yeah, one axle makes it a little hard to steer, just a bit.

just looking for a pick up...   the prices for trucks in the city and surrounding areas is rediculous.  this only seems to be the case for pick ups though.

I am not looking at the boxtruck auction, just that company.

What kind of specs are you looking for? We drop off our vehicles sometimes really cheap when they hit 200,000 miles, although my current truck has 315,000 (it's different then the one you've seen, I blew that ones motor up).

I don't think we have any ready to sell right now, but I can talk to my yard manager and see if there is an potential trucks for sale.

just give dq the specs of the truck your looking for ... he can then find it parked illegally and report it, so it gets towed  [roll]

I found the same thing when I was looking for a moto-hauler for the track.  Again, if you wanna consider my van, I gotta get rid of the thing at some point.
Occasionally AFM #702  My stuff:  The M1000SS, a mashed r6, Vino 125, the Blonde, some rugrats, yuppie cage, child molester van, bourbon.

oh yeah take a look at the central valley, I'm sure all those guys are looking to dump off trucks with this bad economy... Its a short ride out there and you might fined a good deal...

Vin just wants to get his truck back from impound cheap.

Apparently, he still have 2 kilos of weed hidden in it.

A friend from HS got his truck for $600 from the impound yard. His dad was a cop so they watched the yard and kept track of them. Got it the day it was up for sale about 30mins before the original owner came to buy it back since the $600 was going to be cheaper then all the fees, didn't pay off for him though.

I was looking in my garage yesterday and I don't think that a fullsize van would fit in it.  If I get really desperate and the price it right, I might take you up on it.

I am thinking small truck like a Chevy Colorado, Tacoma, Ranger type thing.  The only thing that the truck really needs to have is an extended cab so I can lock up some tools.  4x4 isn't necessary but would be nice.

I wouldn't even know what to do with 2 kilos of weed... other things maybe  [leo]
