Now that I have your attention...

What are your thoughts/experiences about the product and the store environment?

I have an opportunity to open and manage a new independent Ben Moore store in my area. The competition is mostly Sherwin Williams. They have a weak district here... meaning any 1 store might be lucky to get 1 solid person working there at any given time. The rest are slackers. It's been consistently like that for years.

Our idea is to outclass and outservice the competition. Sherwin's one standout manager will be coming with us and bringing $600,000 worth of contractor business with him.

Any Ben Moore input would be appreciated. Thanks!

i have had guys reach back and grab my crotch in an attempt to get around me. i'll either blow in their ear or ask them politely to let go of my wang.

I like their product.  I used Benny Moore when I painted my daughter's room; of course, I was lured in by the fact that my company gets a great discount, but I liked how the paint handled, as well as the input and advice from those in the store.

Only Benjamin Moore in my house.  My local hardware store is a full service Benjamin Moore dealer.  Most of the neighborhood pros pass the discount houses to buy from him.  They order the afternoon before and pick it up custom tinted and mixed in the morning.

when we bought our house, the interior was horrid  [laugh]
a mylanta green bedroom? what were they thinking?
the 2 story foyer and hallways of the house had a cheesy textured paint job, in 3 colors.  :-\

we bought 15 gallons of Benjamin Moore, white diamond.
we have a store right in town that mixed it up,
and our contractor friend gets a big discount so he purchased it for us.

we primed the walls first, and the paint went a LoNG way...
we still have a few gallons of it left... it's 5 years old, is it still good?

anyway, painting over the textured walls came out great... they look like old plaster.

don't most people buy the cheap stuff?
we probably would have if we didn't get the discount.

Your 5 year old cans should be fine provided they are sealed tightly and not sitting on concrete.

Yes many people do buy the cheap stuff. Like anything else, you gets what you pays for. High end paint isn't cheap, but it goes a long way. (as per your experience)
