Painting exhaust/muffler ends & tips

I've been slowly painting the silver bits black on my M750.  It was originally a Dark, but had been painted yellow before I bought it.  It's got the black frame & wheels.  So far, the only thing I've got painted black is the rearsets.  I'm going to do the headlight ears soon, and other bits as I can remove them.  The exhaust could use some black too IMO.  Dupli-Color (all I've ever painted with on bikes) makes a 500F safe paint and a 1200F safe (intermittent it says) paint.  Would the 1200F paint stand up to exhaust heat?  I would be doing at lest the lower parts under the engine where it makes the Y to each side and then the pipes to the and including the muffler ends and the muffler tips.  They're carbon Termignoni cans,, I plan on leaving the carbon as is ~

The high heat stuff is made for headers so I think it would stand up to the heat.  I have been toying with the idea of doing this to my exhaust as well. 

I have used the 1200ºF stuff on my headlight ring with very nice results.  I sanded the chrome to get it rough, cleaned it, baked it, let it cool, sprayed primer, then sprayed the black, then baked it in a toaster oven at the temps on the directions.

The big thing that keeps me from doing the 1200º on my exhaust is I do not have an oven big enough to bake them.  Now you could also cure them using the method VHT uses (similar product) .  You start the bike for so long, let it sit for so long and do it again and again at their recommended times.  I just worry that the end of the exhaust might not cure the same as the front, when comparing it to curing in an oven.

They also have a customer care line you can call.  I called it when I was unclear of the process of spraying and baking and they answered all my questions and gave me reasons why you had to do it that way.  I was really impressed.

For me it comes down to the the "cheap do it yourself" side of me wants to do it this way.  Then the "do it the right way" side of me wants to get ceramic coating.

itll work fine. You dont need to bake it. Ive used it to paint my valve covers too.

Many people have done it on this forum, and my friend also did it on his buell (sprayed the whole header and "cans")

Cool, thanks guys.  It's a cheap & simple mod that makes the contrast that much better.  I want it as my yellow/black as I can get it ~

I used this to paint the termi tips..but not sure how long it will hold the heat.

The cans dont get anywhere near the heat rating of the paint.  Just gotta be careful not to chip.  Mine chipped after about 4 months.  Same paint about four coats
