I have that cheap ebay one. But living in Southern Cali and always having the bike in the garage over night, I've only used it once or twice. My bike doesn't even sit long enough for me to do some winter mods or for the battery to drain. If your in my boat I would pass on a cover all together.

Are you parking in or outdoors? If out I would spring for a quality cover.

yeah the $50 one does sound better especially since the idea is to keep the monster dry in the rain.  The $8.99 cover says "Virtually windproof & water resist against weather".

I have a Guardian cover by dowco, and I think i paid under a 100 for it from my local dealer.  It has made it through one full year of weather and keeps the bike nice, especially since I have to keep my monster outside all the time.

Good luck on your search.

I dont really care if its waterproof or windproof etc since i have a garage, the main point of this thing is to prevent cops from seeing my plate/vin number to ticket me. But it needs to be durable enough since i need to take it on and off probably about 4-5 times a day. and it needs to withstand the acidity of bird poo.

Called up one of my friends and he said he bought his for $120 locally. Thats way to much for a cover. Just a sheer rip of.

Overcaffeinated, do you think the 8.99 would last the constant on and off, hot exhaust and bird poo?

I bought one from ebay for $25. It held up ok. I just use it when I park my bike at work at night in the city. The gromet broke off where the hook goes on the bottom. This isn`t that big of a deal. What do you expect for $25. It has been out in the rain in it and was pretty water tight. At that price if you have to buy one every year big deal. I`m not sure how long a quality one would last and it seems like you will be putting it through a lot of abuse every day. I only used mine about twice a week.

I doubt the cheap one will hold up over time, being taken off 4-5 times a day. The listing also says to keep away from hot exhaust until it cools. But for $20 it will do what you need it to, and is still probably worth it.

I bought mine knowing my bike would always be in the garage. After covering and uncovering it about three times, I was like "F" that. And haven't used it again. Can't imagined wasting my time to do that 3 or more times a day.

Eh. I know how to use a sewing machine and I have one downstairs. If it rips ill just patch it up. Though you are right about the exhaust thing, i contemlated that there arent many materials out there that can withstand the 11ty billion+ degrees of exhaust header heat (that number is based on how it felt when my ankle fell on it and caused 3rd/4th degree burns)

either way, i bidded on a 8.99 one. $16 shipped to my door! cant beat that price when compared to the two $115 tickets that im fighting! The city is REALLY Cracking down and trying to make money.

These two cops were in a quiet residential neighborhood and a guy was double parked in the middle of a quiet 1 way street. plenty of space for even an 18 wheeler to go around (abiet slowly). These 2 cops double park next to them and waited until the poor guy came out of his house and handed him a ticket. Its a wonder how i got ticketed with the rubber of my tire sticking pass a no parking sign, and getting mass ticketed for parking on a sidewalk (cops have passed by there for about a year straight and waved us off plenty of times).

not sure how much covering the bike up is going to deter the cops, sounds like they will do whatever it takes to give tickets.  They might just wait until you uncover it to leave then hand you the ticket.
good luck out there.

they wont ticket a covered bike since its illegal to remove a cover. there was 1 bike there that was covered and did not get ticketed. Plus i have a motion alarm on the bike (disc lock) so itll more hten likely make them just step away since it makes a really annoying sound.

Airborne

does anyone have the aerostitch one that folds into a small self contained packet? Looks like a good option if you want to throw it on after a commute, i think its a 100 bucks.

I have an 09 696, I too am looking for a cover. I live in michigan, so it ened to handle hot muggy weather, and cold winters. It will be stored in a garage, but its also a woodshop, so, in the winters when i can't pull the bike out, its also going to be a dust cover.

If possible (this may be asking a lot) i'd like to use it on trips when  i absolutely have to store it outside

I just dont know about the brands whats crap whats not and so on...

any suggestions?

thanks guys

oh, and ill be taking the stock mirrors off and i am waiting for Carbon termis (dont stay hot as long i guess) if any of that matters

thanks for your input.

your probably better of spending the extra bucks on a more expensive one. the one i purchase was cheap as hell. but it gets the job done (main duty is to cover my license plate).

there is a cover called the geza if you google it. but its in the bling bling range. if your gonna buy a good cover thats the way to go. But the difference maybe that my bike gets abused far more then yours. its been pooed on, rained on , snowed on, and even hailed on. not to mention i dumped it twice. ;D
