Trailer VIN? Why is my RMV a stupid head

I recently bought a cheap ass trailer that was never registered.  Owner just used it on his property.  Doesn't have title.

Trailer is about 6 years old.  Similar to those foldable trailers sold through Harbour Freight.  Solid condition and I got it locally.  VIN tag on trailer... looks original.

Any way...  my RMV states that I don't have a "real" VIN because it starts with 5 letters.  Any one out there with a similar trailer with a VIN that starts out like mine?

I took this pic with my digital camera and brought it into the the registry...  I was told...  "so what?"

I'm going back again on Friday ... have an appointment with a supervisor.

here is my VIN tag

I'm in the wonderful state of Massachusetts.

Register in NH with a friend, then transfer it.
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

I've actually thought about that.  My sister lives in Manchester, NH and would do it for me but I'll see what happens on Friday.

You could register it down here...

Probably, but NH is notoriously lax and lawless, and he can pick up cheap liquor while he's up there.

Remember how Australia got started when Britain was shipping off all the undesireables?

That's what how Massachusetts started NH.

No, here in CT. Base is federal, not state. We don't have to comply with state laws...

Update...

Tag in hand....  no need to get a title.  It's amazing how well things work out when the other person has common sense.

The supervisor apologized to me and basically said that the person I was dealing with is an idiot and should have been fired years ago!

I laughed and vacated after handing over my check and receiving my plate.

they are morons, talk to a manager

here is an auction site with one, similar VIN

Use this VIN decoder and make a printout:

I used the VIN from the auction link above and it decoded just fine.
