I'm Frank from New Brunswick, Canada

Well, I'm a long-time wannabe Ducati owner who just picked up a 2008 S4Rs rebuildable project (a.k.a. - crunched) as my first. I figured that it will easier to justify personalzing it if I have to replace parts anyway!

I've been watching the forums for a while and I've been taking stock of the damage to the bike-basically trying to figure out what I've got myself into!   

I'm an old fart at 50 and I've been riding on the streets legally  for over 30 years. I've ridden almost every brand of Japanses motorcycle at one time or another but I realised, after taking my first Ducati test-ride two years ago, that I found a new love. I also own a 1998 Honda VTR1000F which is fun, but definitely not in the same league as the Duc.

Anyway, I'm going to watch, hopefully learn, and very soon, start working toward getting my bike on the road again.  [moto]

Hi Frank. Welcome to the site! Congratulations on the Monster project. You'll find a wealth of knowledge here on the DMF to help you rebuild your bike.

There is an active group of Ducati owner/enthusiasts here in Atlantic Canada. A bunch of us have recently formed a group called the www.eastcoastducaticlub.com which is supported by Atlantic Motoplex of Moncton. Feel free to drop by our forum and say hi as well.

Welcome aboard Frank, you've found a great place for info.  I'm a complete noob and have gotten endless tips in my short time here.  Love to see some pics of the crunch factor, i'm sure your S4R will be a beaut when you've had your way with her!

Before anyone mentions it, yes, I know that I've got a tweaked frame to deal with.     Just one of the surprises that didn't show up in the photos...
It's minor, but it's still there. Does anyone know of a frame shop close to New Brunswick, Canada?

Hi Frank. Glad you've found the ECDC page. We're just getting the new club off the ground this season but most of the core members have been riding and wrenching on Ducatis for years and are/were members of the Ducati Owners Club of Canada. We just felt it was high time to do our own thing. It'll be great to have you on board!

I don't know any shops off hand in your area that do frame straightening, but you might try asking the racers at Atlantic Roadracing League (www.atlanticroadracing.com) Their forum is www.atlanticroadracing.com/forum. Those fellows ought to know a reputable local shop to do the work.

Congrats on the Tricolore. They're beautiful (even when a little banged up )!

For a 2008 she's seen some weather.  Hopefully for yours she's found her rightfull home.

I've also had rice-grinders and pork-grinders and very much enjoying my first pasta-maker.

Good luck on your project!  I'm sure you'll find a lo of great input on the tech forum.

Yep, unfortunately, she's seen a lot in her short life.  Fortunately, I have many parts on the way, with more available when I cool off my charge card!    All parts are coming from DMF members, and they've also given me a lot of great suggestions along the way.

I'm lucky to have a good friend who is a master machinist, with his own machine shop, who is going to help me with my frame and engine repairs.  It's not looking like the bike will be roadworthy this year, but I'm still going to try! Anyway, it will be something to keep me out of trouble and at home!
