Your old gear (jackets, suits and gloves)

Hi All,

My girlfriend makes clothing and recently started studying motorcycle gear and wants to try her had at making a few top-class jackets and gloves.

I gave her two old jackets to tear apart and one pair of gloves so that she can look for how to make a protective leather jacket.

She also had a look at the two Dainese jackets and Alpinestars suit that I have and wishes that she could pull them apart too  [roll] because they seem to "so damn well built" (her words).

So...
You saw it coming. Would anyone have some old gear, no matter how bad the crash was that made it unusable, and would consider donating it to a worthy student. My investment in her endeavour will be covering the cost of shipping.

Thanks for taking the time to read and let's see what you've got.

Cheers,
Oli

most of the worn gear are so badly worn, im not sure how you are going to even take it apart (cause chances are it already is) that and it seems like youre in canada.

i have a pair of JR i could donate, they are ripped @ that palm from a crash. i wouldnt recommend it as a good specimen to study from, JR gloves are horrible. youre better of learning from a higher quality pair. i could photograph my daineses for you. :) they're still good!

You're right, we'd rather get some top of the line gear that's destroyed (Dainese, Alpinestars, Revit, ...) to learn how it was built and what materials they used.

All I have left is my gear that's still usable and she's looked at it inside out until she started to try and convince me to get a new jacket so that she could tear my oldest one apart. Yeah, right.  ;D

just get her to buy you a new jacket, you can say its cool bc she is buying it for you and you get to upgrade it.. then she gets to rip arpart and old jacket... win win...

then again, if my gf ever asked if she could cut up my leather jacket that has taken years to break in, i would tell her 'hell no'...

Your lucky, most of our significant other do not ask us if they can tear apart our toys. Just go and kiss her sister and all of your jackets and gloves will be torn apart.

If I were you I'd contact Road Racing World since they have contacts with all the racing organizations in the US and see if they might not be able to help you out. 951-245-6411

I have a Fieldsheer jacket that went through a crash and has all three zippers in front (two vent plus main) torn up a bit.  Would she be willing to try installing a few new zippers to see how difficult it is?  That might be good practice before trying to make one to sell to somebody.

Otherwise, I might be willing to send it to you unless you're located somewhere far away like Canada.

Send me an e-mail message (not a PM) to work out details.
