I'm getting Termi's installed soon, and I plan to do a tail chop eventually.  Does it make more sense to get full Termi's because of this or do you think there will be aftermarket support for the tail chop later.  I don't want to choose slip on's when I could have picked up a full Termi system.

IF you got the cash.. the full termi sounds ... wow  :o plus makes it true free flow, meaning more HP

Sounds like the tail is wagging the dog. The full Termis will run close to $3000, but I got it for the extra db, the extra pony, and the clean line looks. The tail chop wasn't on my criteria.

Get the full Termis, you won't regret it! [thumbsup]

What have people tried for a tail chop on an M1100?  Is there anything that works well?  I'm now considering doing this myself.

Where did you buy the DP kit? How difficult was it to install?

Sorry, to change the subject. Is your bike a 1100S with a changed out tank skins & rims or a 1100 with Ohlins added? Regardless, one of the nicest 1100 I've seen! [thumbsup] Very clean w/o the passenger pegs. I just wish there will be a rearset that will have passenger pegs, but w/o the butt ugly wing.

Back to OP's question. He wanted to know where you got your DP tail chop and how difficult was it to install. Didn't want to jump his thread.

The bike started as a Pearl White 1100S.  The gloss black skins are from a base 1100.  The wheels are tires are from an 848.

I purchased the DP Short Tail Kit from my dealer along with the other bits and pieces on the bike.  Any dealer can order it for you or I'm sure they are available through a number of online sources:  http://www.store.commoto.com/ducati-monster-6961100-short-tail-p-1032.html . The kit only comes in the larger Euro license plate size.  You'll need to trim the bottom of the plate bracket and drill two new mounting holes to make it work with the US sized plates.  Let me know if you need any other info.

Sweet  [thumbsup]  This is almost exactly what I had planned for my next ride.

Are those Rizoma rearsets?  I didn't think anyone was making anything yet to replace the stock on the 1100s and to get rid of that giant piece with the passenger pegs.

Current ride - Triumph Thruxton (don't hate, Ducs still #1)
2008 848 - R.I.P. (by delivery truck)
2006 S2R 800 Dark - SOLD
2006 Triumph Bonneville - SOLD

Yep, Rizomas for S*R models.  You need a longer brake line to make them work as well may need to raise the reservoir if you move the pegs up higher than stock.

ok, someone better make some f*cking rearsets for my 696! these 1100 guys are making us look real bad...

How big of a job was installing the longer brake line? was there any bleeding involved (aside from the brake of course)?

yeah, yeah, if I had to ask... [cheeky]
