no pic with your post..... ;)

i have one professional tattoo, and 3 very small "unprofessional" ones.
i regret all of them, but not cause i dont like ink.
the professional one is on one of my shoulder blades. cant tell you which without looking in a mirror (and then i am likely to get it wrong...) my regret is getting it in a place that i can see it regularly :-\
the unprofessional ones, are, well, very unprofessional. luckily the hide easy [roll]

herm...are you being a leg humper or can you really not see it....i'm slow today sorry... :-\

I'm not sure about most... that seems to be... a bit of a stereotype.

the youth culture is alot more westernized, and (from what I've seen) the tattoo culture reflects that sort of 'americanism'

whether or not it's legal to 'show' ink in japan, I have no idea. it used to be illegal, last I heard.

I'm 99% sure that it's not illegal, just very uncouth.  If you have them you're not supposed to show them in public.  When I was there in 97-98 the general rule was still that tats on Japenese = Yakuza.  The social stigma on them is so great that the only ones with the juice to have them and not catch shit, are gangsters.  At least that was the general rule 10 years ago.

I worked on aircraft for the Air Force and loved aircraft nose art.

The artist did a lot better on the drawing than the actual tattoo...

the_Journeyman,
The photo, you posted up, was it shot with a mirror?

Possibly, I can't remember.  If the characters look reversed, I probably did  [laugh]

Just tell people that it's secret code that's meant to be decoded using a mirror.  [laugh]

Probably is, I can't see how I could have held a camera and managed to shoot it properly.  AF doesn't work well with mirrors, so where it's IZ_, that's probably the case.

The characters are strength (behind the dragon) love (by the chest) and good luck (above).  The accuracy depends on how well the artist was able to duplicate the characters ~

Here's what I have.  Been getting ink'd for the past 12 years or so.  Some of my originals need a retouch (now that I see them in a picture :)  )

Then this past winter I wanted to do a moto-related tattoo but didn't want to get a logo or something like that.

So i took the Isle of Man flag

And turned it into this:

Which my artist turned into this:

"The Vincent was like a bullet that went straight; the Ducati is like the magic bullet in Dallas that went sideways and hit JFK and the Governor of Texas at the same time."--HST    **"A man who works with his hands is a laborer.  A man who works with his hands and his brain is a craftsman.  A man who works with his hands, brains, and heart is an artist."  -Louis Nizer**

I know about about 2000 of those characters. Yours are actually very well written in my opinion.
