My wife seems to think there is a full face helmet with a hole in the back so that your pony tail can actually come out of the helmet.  Is this true?

I've seen ones with fake pony tails on the back:

I've never seen anything other than batting helmets with holes for pony tails.

Here's a 3/4 helmet with a notch: http://www.trikeridersnow.com/PublicFiles/DepartmentViewer.asp?ArticleID=824

Though, if I remember correctly, your chin gets the most damage in the wreck so maybe thats not the best choice.

I have long hair and usually just put it in a low ponytail with no issues.

+1 on the low ponytail.

Oh god... tell me about hair and helmets!  My hair is soooo big and really not pony-tail friendly.  I try to do a low bun but still, not the best option.. all I have though.

That would seriously compromise the effectness of the helmet if there were a hole in it.......what she saw was a "stick on" ponytail. I have 3 of them myself, not tho mention my "doggie ears". Yeah, they are silly, but I am a girly girl who likes to ride! I came up with my own, so if she wants a how to....let me know.

Actually, if you are looking for a "hair friendly" helmet, try the http://www.rideicon.com/product_details.jsp?category=1973&id=8012 Icon Siren helmet. It's best to watch the video... well crap... tried to find the link and they removed the video :( Anyways I'm getting it the next time I'm able to get a new helmet.

Whats hair friendly about it? Just the interior material?

Even with the low ponytail my hair seems to get VERY knotted up.  Lately, I've been doing 2 braids on the side and then trying to tuck them into my gear.
Some people are like Slinkies. They're really good for nothing; however, they can still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

the low pony never stays in my hair... i end up with knots too...

Hmmm, I guess the neck scarf I usually wear helps keep the ponytail from flying around too much in the wind.

... the way it's designed, your hair won't get matted down in sweat - more airflow that's directed around your head so it's *supposed* to be hair friendly. I'm not a product representative - I'm just restating what was said in the video.

My hair is short enuff that it doesnt fly around out back but lately I've noticed if the hairband is too high, my hair will get tangled. Don't say anything about shaving your head solving the problem. I'll shave my head when you shave your eyebrows off and keep them like that for a whole year.

I actually saw someone wearing one of those the other day...I had to do a double take.

I didn't know it was fake, I was trying to figure out why in the hell she had her hair sticking out of her helmet...batting helmet was the first thing that came to my mind too.

I don't get why you'd wear that.... ???
