We talked a little last night about possibly driving east for a US Desmo event next year, so I thought I'd post up a little info about that club and what they do.  You can find club information at http://www.usdesmo.com.  You can see information regarding the event I was talking about, Ducks Along the Blue Ridge, in this issue of the club magazine:  http://www.usdesmo.com/leanings/Leanings_2008_2_Summer.pdf

Membership gets you reduced fees at club events (which isn't worth much to us since we're so far west, but when I lived back east and hit two or three events per year plus a couple of track days, it more than paid for itself) and the club's Desmo Leanings magazine four times per year.

We could start a local website like this one for a very reasonable price.  The local club I belonged to in Chattanooga had its own small website (http://www.intrepidcaferacers.com), and though it was pretty poorly maintained due to the laziness of our webmaster, I think it cost the club about $50 per year to maintain the web address.  If we're interested in this I could start researching bulletin board software, of maybe Kingbaby already knows about this stuff, being a web guru and all.  Or, for free, we can just stay at DMF.  It's all good to me.

Also, Tom Rolland's web address for Ducati belt buckles is http://www.webgrafex.com/ducatibeltbuckles/ or you can email him at trolland@gmail.com.  Do ask about belt fitment.  His older design will work only on a 1" strap.  He has a newer design that works on wider straps, but I don't know specifically which width.  He offers buckles in polished brass or sterling silver, and he makes them right here in Albuquerque, NM!

Two more cents,

Rolland's web address and email are in the original message...and those buckles are damned pretty.  I own a couple of them.  I'll make it a point to wear one next time we get together so you can evaluate it for yourself.  Tom lives just off of Coors near I-40.

I sent Tom an email to see if he knows about this board of local Ducati freaks.  I doubt he does or he'd be here.  I should have thought of sending him a note earlier, but I guess it's better late than never.  Don't be surprised to see an old guy who loves GTs to show up here soon!

And since we were discussing track bikes, I found an Aprilia RS250 for sale so you can see picutres.  This price is high, but it is through a dealer.

If you really want one just for track days or something, look on the WERA boards.  The prices there are almost always better.

Did you just say "play around with"? It costs as much as your new bike.

Thats Dusty & I's crave bike, but is gonna have to be about 3/4 the price.  That one needs to get broken in (aka crashed)  a few times.
I promise to make better mistakes tomorrow.

I nearly bought one with spares for $5k about 3 years ago, so you can definitely find better deals.  I just stuck that one up for reference.  As I said, the WERA board is the place to find one "well used" with spares and such.  The also show up occasionally on ebay....if you're into that.

Yeah I'm looking for the one that has the color in the add as Duct tape.   [laugh]

Pretty easy really, just google Ducati belt buckles or Tom Rolland, that will take you to my web page:) Scott mentioned that some folks might want a buckle. I am here in Albuquerque, west side by Ladera Golf course. I have 3 750 GT's, the original Monsters:) OK, so now I have joined the monster list too. I pretty much spend all my time on the Bevelheads list. There's lots to see on my web page, pictures of my trips. I went to the first WDW in Italy, Oz/NZ, Oz again, and England on a 900SS year before last. And there's pics of the 750 GT's that I have restored. Tom Rolland
