so i went to try on helmets today and the x-11 fit perfect, they didnt have the locatelli model in stock but they have an alright looking yellow/graphic model.  so im thinking about picking it up they are asking 355 for it, is this a good deal, what did you guys pay?

Spidey

That is an awesome deal.  They usually run over $500.  You'd be hard-pressed to find a new one for $355 anywhere.

BTW, they have any others?  At $355, I'll buy a small.  I don't care about the color scheme.
Occasionally AFM #702  My stuff:  The M1000SS, a mashed r6, Vino 125, the Blonde, some rugrats, yuppie cage, child molester van, bourbon.

i'll look tomorrow, they have a real small selection of shoeis, but i believe that they only had 1 a large left

355 is dirt cheap for an x-11. Be sure to check the manufacture date on the inside of the helmet to make sure that you're not getting old stock.
ErkZ NOT in SLO w/ his '95 m900!
The end is in sight! Gotta buckle down and get to work!

That's an amazing price.  I paid much more for a solid colored one.

Well I'm going to assume that it's old stock, how long are helmets good for.  How old is to old?

5 years is generally accepted as the effective lifespan of a helmet. I know some people that change them sooner and some that are using "vintage" helmets.

that has got to be old stock the best deal i found on a 08 and up graphics one was near 500
Favorite convo i read on this board
"PICS OR IT DIDNT HAPPEN"
"F**K U IT HAPPENED"

Suzuki Blvd M109R " Sliver " = assassinated by cager
PW 696 " Pearl " = traded in
M1100 " Loki " = Viking God of mischief ( Goddess in this case )

Yep, awesome deal... Paid way more for my X-11 but I love it, super comfy, no hotspots, no headaches. I could wear it for days... now if only I had a Corbin or Sargent seat... Then I would ride for days!  :o

just got back from the shop and it is 07 stock, after wearing it for a couple minutes in the shop i had to pass.  i could tell that wearing it for prolonged periods of time wouldnt be that comfortable

Unless your head shape is really different from most people I can't imagine finding a more comfortable Helmet than a X-11.

The Helmet, if it is the right size for you will fit more snug when it is new than after you've broken it in .Make sure you measure your head and get the right size and keep in mind it will loosen up a bit.

Even the top of the line Arais that I have including the new Corsair V aren't any if as comfortable for me as my Shoei X-11s.

My Suomy is comfortable but very noisy compared to the X-11 and the Noland Stoner replica doesn't flow much air in comparison to the X-11.     Dolph

People have dramatically different head shapes are makes some brands a better fit than others:

Oh my goodness, I can only imagine how loud that would be. My X-11 is really noisy, but I wear plugs so... It will be a hell of a lid they come out with to find me without an X-11.

this past year at the bike show i got fitted for an arai, but after trying them on a couple of times im really not digging them any more.   while i was trying on the shoei i was starting to get a hot spot on the front of my head with the shoei thats why i ended up passing it up.  i tried on a bunch of others they had there and after about an hour i ended up deciding on a HJC based soley on the fit, i feel kind of guilty though by not spending 500+ on a lid.

Don't feel guilty.  Be glad.  Price is largely for comfort and features.  The pricier helments often have more venting n' stuff and *sometimes* fit better, depending on your head shape.  The most important thing is that you found one that fits well.  Unfortunately, the best-fitting helmet I've found is the $500+ Shoei X-11.  If there as a $200 helmet that fit as well, I'd rock that instead.
