Kind of figured the chain might be a bit controversial, but with only a tiny price difference over a plain jane uncoloured one........
C'mon, I had to do the pure Wank red one!  [cheeky]

Looks good CD!
How much was the Red chain and what was the price of the plain one and where did you get them from?

you know, I'm with Chris on that one - for me, the red chain detracts for the other (outstanding) colour matching you've done - esp the swing arm - can't remember where I saw that first (definitely on the DML, from the US) but I love the way it flows with the trellis frame.

I'm a sucker for a DSS bike personally, but when I see a tasty matched SSS, it might just turn me!

It's kinda like the ohlins gold thing - for me if you have gold you need to have a consistent theme, and different tones, hues and the like detract. Sometimes its hard to gauge from a pic, but to me it looks like the chain is not quite close enough of a match, and like I said, imho it detracts from the overall package.

Not really controversial, just different strokes for different foks! nice and tidy bike none the less, it's a credit to you.

Thanks GoldFish  :) I knew the chain would be one of those love it or hate it things, I was a touch disappointed when it came out of the box and was a lighter colour than I thought.
I always wanted a red chain, now I've got it, I might change the colour to a black one next time, or Purple, or Green, or blue, or yellow....  [laugh]

It's an EK Chain from CA Cycleworks, the Black chain is $119 US and the Coloured chains are $129 US. I was going to buy the Genuine Ducati Red Chain through work but at nearly $300 at cost.... :o

The Photo on the CA site made it look a bit Darker than it really is, I figured the Gold was not going to suit, because I have nothing gold on the bike apart from the yellow spring on the Ohlins shock, I like the yellow spring on the ohlins shock, adds a point of difference to the bike and breaks things up from the red and black, it also adds a highlight point to the back of the bike, to signal that this is different, this is not factory.

Here's a link for the Chains on Ca's site

+1. Chris Kelly is awesome to deal with

I originally hated the gold DiD chain....thought it looked way to 'pimpy'....but it's so good for chain maintenance...any dirt shows up....the red may just well be the same!

hey Goldie....the tri-colour must have done your head in...the ohlins, paint and wheels were all different gold tones....add a gold chain...and....your head would explode!  [laugh]

My bike is prodominantly red & black, but I have gold highlights. brakes/masters cylinders, calipers, front forks, clutch slave cyl, fuel cap and chain are all gold. My chain is indeed DID gold and its been a fantastic chain. Its only just developed a slight tight spot now, but its pretty minimal. - Chris
