Really? I would like to hear more. You have a real tard, but found this more fun? I'm very interested in your opinion with more detail because I'm wanting a tard real bad for my next street bike. I have not ridden the Hyper yet but would like to. It's so heavy that I've been skeptical but very curious at the same time. Weight and cost have bumped it to the bottom of my list so far but as I said, I have not ridden it yet. I want more of a hooligan ride that I can drop and beat up on without the high cost of replacing the abused parts. But, it's a Duc so I have a hard time ruling it out completely!

So, what your take on the Hyper vs. your real tard?

I have a Husky 610 just so you have all the info.  The husky is a ton of fun (also, this is a 2001, not the new ones - they could and probably are better), but if you wanna go on any slab to egt anywhere, it gets annoying quick   - and you're shifting pretty much all the time.

The Hyper feels lighter than it really is and that engine is just pure sex.  It will wheelie at will in gears 1-3 and you can lean that thing into a turn like a damn SBK and it just stays planted (the demo bike I rode had never been ridden before - I put 8 miles on it and it had no chicken strips when I brought it back).  However, I never tried backing it into a corner as I think the weight would come into play a bit there  - and that is definitely one of the highlights of the 'Tard experience.

Really, you NEED to ride one.  It is THE Ducati I would buy if I had 20k lying around (basically, I'd take it over anything but a 1098R and a D16RR).

They are right here, getting passed on the inside.

Just kidding.  They are a lot of fun and just about the perfect bike for a tight track like this.  But they are not a substitute for a true supermoto.

I have an 06 SMR450 and I was hoping that the HM or the SXV would be a suitable replacement, but so far nothing compares.  Maybe the F800GS, but I bet BMW will make it 200 lbs. heavier than it has to be.  The HM is essentially a good looking MultiStrada.
