i really believe that in those last three years all he cared about was each individual race, not the championship. 

'06, ben stunned him and everyone else.  '07, the title came down to one incredible race.  couldn't ask for more.  but '08.. i'd still be smartin' from all the non-racing issues that contributed to who won.  bs.
