Hello,
I am considering buying a 97' M750, there is 17.5K miles on the odometer.

The owner just put new tires on about 2 weeks ago.  He said the odometer worked for a couple days then stopped!?
Is this something I should be concerned with?
The bike is pretty nice, runs well...no oil leaks

He is asking $2800

Well I replied to one of your other threads, BUT if the tires were just put in they probably screwed up the speedo / ODO pickup (cable drive) on the front wheel and tire installation ...

I would be much more concerned with present condition (including a non functioning sdeedo) and history than actual mileage, particularly on a bike that old.

FWIW, my '99 M750 is just short of 250,000km (~155k miles). 17k miles is only just run in.

Like Dave says, check the speedo drive in the front wheel, it may not be fitted together right, or it may have busted the speedo cable when the wheel change happened (mine's been replaced 3 times now, water gets into the speedo cable and pools down near the wheel and rusts the inner, which them breaks really easily during a wheel change.)

Does the speedo work now? If the speedo works and the odo doesn't, try twisting the trip meter reset knob a bit - I've had my odo/tripmeter "hang" occasionally, nudging the reset know fixes it up...
