You know, the one pressed on to the stem against the lower triple?  I can't get it to budge, but I haven't used any heat.  I want to pull it before I send the triple to the powder coater.  I have a sealed bearing set to install when I mount my sbk forks.

Thanks in advance......

Probably the best and fastest way without damaging anything is to press the stem out through the bottom of the lower triple. The bearing "seating" surface is relatively short. About 5/8" to 3/4" movement and the bearing is free.

That seems a bit extreme just to get a dang seal off. Plus I don't have a press........

Are you talking about the seal, or the bearing race?

The seal is just a rubber lip on a sheetmetal 'washer', and it shouldn't be tight.

The race is there as well.

You can try to lever the race off with a screwdriver after heating the stem. There is a washer under the seal that you will want to keep. I have taken several off this way but on my monster the tolerance was too tight and I ended up bring it to a generic shop that had a two piece wedge that went on either side of the race with two bolts that tightened and forced the race up. They charged me $5 to do it.

Excellent.  Maybe tonight I'll get the torch out and see what I can do.  I figured it would take some heat......
