hey guys, I got a friend of mine and me that are gonna do a trackday with ridesmart on the 27th at MSR in cresson, just the normal 1.7 CC. So I wanted to see if anyone else is interested in going... its only 120 bucks...

I'd like to but it's Family Vacation weekend. Sorry.

I'm planning on one Aug 1 or 15 at ECR. Keep the date open if you can.

There's a chance I might be there schedule permitting.  What level are you signing up for?  If I do it, I will likely be in Level 3/4 (in Ty's class).

I met you at the AMS Track Day in October.  I was riding in Intermediate with my Yellow/Red 748.  We talked about CMRA.

Where can I find out more details - begin/end times, rider levels, requirements (other than $120), etc.?

Thanks.

hey CM, ya I remember talking to you about all that... did you ever do the LSTD racer licenses class?

umm normally I do expert, but if its like "CMRA" expert as suppose to "novice" racers I'd do amateur because I dont want to feel like I just started off on a bike... so I signed up for level 2, and I'm only hoping/assuming that if its a bit to little for me they'd let me move up? (like I said I dunno, I've never done a ridesmart before)

but you should definitely come out it'll be a blast, I need some more duc's to go to make it feel like a AMS track day.

as slag said check out the website, but I'd really sign up pretty soon because ridesmart does sell out and that be a horrible reason not to make it... I dunno what there refund policy like, but hopefully there nice about it... me and a buddy already signed up... and I think another ducati rider will be out there as well.. the more the better.

James- I did end up getting my CMRA Prov Nov licence. Did my first raceday at TWS in April (4th out of 12 in Formula 2 and 11th out of 17 in Lightweight Twins) and also got one Cornerworking day out of the way. I'm taking my time this year and will try to run more next year (though I will be Endurance racing also with several friends).  I bought 2 SV650 racebikes (proper race efforts always have a 2nd bike :)...came in handy in rain/dry conditions) for CMRA and most trackdays.
I do still track the Duc but at the last AMS trackday in late May, I got hit by a 1098 attempting a pass from my blindside at Buzzard's neck in Cresson as I was doing a slow lap following another rider to give them feedback.  After getting my first experience getting ejected in front of my bike (brake lever got hit during collision), the bike is now with Randy/Lisa at Motopia waiting on a few things (fairing repair, weld repair for right rearset, and new tires).  Key advice I would give anyone on trackdays - it is not a race and the rider attempting the pass needs to have their bike under control at all times especially when the rider in front cannot see them.  If in doubt, don't pass and wait another corner... Everyone came out reasonably ok but the expense and hassle were really unnecessary considering there were 8 bikes on track that day...

Ridesmart days are cheap and the price you pay is that it will be crowded and you will have a more diverse crowd.  Motorcycles attract certain personalities that don't exactly listen to instruction and guidelines well and you'll see it the most at RS because of the large group size.  The AMS trackday had about 20 bikes per group.  Ridesmart will run 35-40 bikes per session at Cresson. I do the RS events for experience in tight quarters and to do Ty Howard's class so just know what you are getting into.  Level 2 is the craziest group because of the variance in skill. If you can hold a line (and you have a CMRA licence), you should be in Level 3/4.  The fact that others are faster shouldn't be a factor on a trackday. From what I remember at the AMS day, you were already faster and more experience than the Intermediate group you rode with for most of the day. You'll be fine in Level 3/4.

LSTD is doing a school at Cresson on Friday, 7/10 also (and it'll be Clockwise so it'll be even more fun).  Also, for those with trackday experience, ECR will  have a bike-only Member Day on Thu, 7/2.  Those interested, PM me. It's a small group of people (probably will have less than 20) and we will have the track to ourselves the whole day (probably at least 6-7 30-minute sessions).

very cool/good to hear... about CMRA that is...

and sorry to hear about the highside... thats how I ended my CRMA last season by a highside...

well hopefully if it is that bad I'll move up... another reason I stay low is to prevent me from making it a competition against myself and others, I'm just gonna fart around track, not set lap records...

I wish I could do more but w/o a job and full-time summer school it'll be ruff to even get this done....

CM,

I hate reading that.  People who pull bullshit moves like that should be banned from track days.  That is how people get hurt.

Several members of this board said that they would not do the RideSmart days because the AMS days are much safer due to the caliber of the people who attend them.  I think that this incident highlights their ignorance on the subject.  I have not been to an AMS track day entirely because of the elitist attitude of some of the attendees.  I have never had a bad day at ridesmart.

These are just my personal opinions.  I'm sure that many of you will think that I am full of shit.

I'm sorry, but this story really irritates me.

If you've never been to an AMS trackday, how are you aware of elitest attitudes?  I've been to a handful of AMS days and everyone was as kind and helpful as can be.  I'm not sure what you're referring to.   /shrug

Sorry Jester, guess I wasn't clear on that part. I was referring to a thread that was on here 6 or 8 months ago where people were slamming ridesmart and Japanese motorcycle riders.  Sorry about that. I will try to find it when I get home. PITA on the iphone.

As they say in Jamaica... No Problem   [thumbsup]

I just didn't want the folks that attend AMS days to get a bad rap.  I haven't really run across anyone unpleasant to be around on those days.   :)
