I feel kind of stupid posting this so this thread will probably end up being a how to posted by me but...

Any one have a how-to for a 696/1100 head light removal. Im going get the headlight bracket powdercoated when i get the bike. I looked at it at the dealership but it seemed more confusing than I thought. Thanks for the help in advance!

If you get in there and really look at it you should be able to figure it out there are only two screws, on the bottom I think, that hold it on...then when you get the headlight off you can pull the trim ring.

yes holly easiness!! i just need to buy some star sockets to get the dash off the ring. im embarrassed...

I recommend the set sold at Home Depot.  It is by Husky called "36-Piece precision Screwdriver Set"  part # 128 518.  It is $5 and has a good assortment of Torx bits for stuff like that...

thanks man ill check it out. I think my craftsman and snap on stuff will beat up the husky bits though...

Agreed...as will my Craftsman tools...but you said you had to buy some.... and $5 is hard to beat especially if you rarely use them...

How do you unplug the harness though? I have had great difficulty with this and shortened my turn signals one handed by holding the headlight, major PITA.  Every time I tried to remove the harness, i thought I was going to break it.  The tab design is different so I was afraid to pry with a screwdriver.
