Honestly, if your wife is still struggling from a crash experience, your best bet is to go out alone, just the two of you.
It took a long while for my gf to get back into the swing of things from her accident in Aug '07, and she's still not all the way back at times.

Heck, we finally went back to the accident scene late last year (Sept/Oct) on bikes.

A group ride event might not be the best idea for her.
