ive been seeing this more and more lately, dudes jam a flip phone into their helmet and talk while they ride. one guy on honda CB, commuter dude. in a BMX helmet had the screen jammed inthis helmet, and was talking agressively with his hands while yelling into the phone. then i saw another guy on a sport bike doing the same hting with jacket and all.

what hte hell? is that the new bluetooth or something?

Leaving the phone in the helmet obstructs the view, I pull over or don't talk.

+1 i see riding as an escape from the rest of the world why would i want to talk to anybody who isn't riding?

I've been using the J&M bluetooth headset for my iphone.  it comes with an aviation grade mic and qulality headphones that mount inside your cheek pads... it does stereo music and phone.  tunes tunes tunes, ring ring, press one button... call connected.  let the other guy hang up when the call is complete and the music resumes.  its kinda fun when your friends who dont ride call and ask "what are you doing?", and you can answer "65 over the Throgs Neck, what do you want?"  the system works great, sound is good and clear, no earbuds drilling into your head.  right now the phone is in my pocket, but once i find an iphone ram mount i will be able to use all ipod functions as well as all phone functions.  also, if you dont want to take calls, put on airplane mode and forget everyone whos not shredding edges w/ you.  a lot of people ask "is it safe to ride and talk on the phone?".  i ask, "is it safe to drive and talk on the phone?"  besides i think it's safe as long as your not fumbling for buttons and headset wires, so go bluetooth...  i mean if you're gonna do it (ride and talk on the phone), do it, but do it the best way possible.  BTW if you have a full face helmet, be prepared to take an xacto to it for mic installation.

And a +1 to that. I'll check my phone when I get to where I'm going. Not answering my phone+riding my bike= me in a very good mood! [moto]

The attention andcoordination to ride a motorcycle is a lot higher than what you need in a car.

tahts why certain types of people are addicted to riding. it requires a type of concentration that melts away your problems.

i find riding to school before a test really helps me take my mind of the test, so when i sit down my mind is completely clear and ready because i forgot everything that was bothering me right before i hopped on my bike. its therapy for me.

I listen to tunes through my Garmin 550 whenever I ride.  I can sync the phone to the Garmin and then control it from there.  Until now I've been against answering the phone as it is my therapy and its nice to have a legitimate excuse to not answer my phone.  But I've been doing some commuting lately, and on long day rides I sometimes would like to let my girl know my eta.  We own a business together and it would be handy to have some quick conversations.

Anyone know of good in ear mic set? I use in ear headphones to listen to tunes as they act as plugs at the same time.

unreale7ss do you use earplugs with that headset?  That's the first BT set that I've heard of that has stereo.  Most of them sound like shit though, hows the sound quality?

The Garmin allows me to perform all of the phone functions, answering, looking through my phone book, initiating calls, whatever.

Haven't tried the throat mics.  Maybe thats next.

Still need to focus on that garmin screen rather than the road to make the call.  If i was cruising on the highway I would do it, but I don't allow my cell to connect to the garmin anyway.
