I picked up a 60csx and love it, i also use it for a lot of other things besides riding, (hiking, running, sail, dirtbike, skiing) You can trace your routs and download to view in google earth. Or upload others routs straight to your gps and hit go. The dedicated car type ones are cheaper and come pre loaded with maps. After you buy the 60csx, you have to buy the maps +$100. But you can get maps from all over the world and there seems to be a big user base for it. I get a lot more use out of it than just directions.

First, I don't mind getting lost on my bike.  But I still want a GPS from time to time.  I use a Nuvi 760 in my car, and I thought about mounting it to my bike, but it isn't waterproof.  Garmin sells a line that are made for bikes that are waterproof.  If I had a choice, I'd get one with traffic and use a Ram mount to secure it to my bike.

I just did a quick check and the Amazon.com street price now seems to  be about $300.

Very happy with mine also, but don't use it for street riding on my Duc, only for backroad exploring and also hiking.  I got mine last year after reading through the whole advrider GPS forum

+1 read through the advrider section. You can find it cheaper on the net or package deals that include the maps.

if i may i would like to add a question on this topic.
The GPS in my wifes 2009 honda pilot lets you zoom in within an 1/8th or 1/16th of a mile (cant remember right now) with an overhead view of the road it works so well that when on an unfamiliar road a quick glance at the gps display will give me a good indication of how tight the radius of an upcoming turn is and i wonder if any of these portable ones offer similair performance i have no experience with portable ones.

i just use my TomTom one stuck to the tank with the suction cup adapter ( havn't lost it yet ...lol)

yes zoom, pan, search for restaurants, gas, closest food to your current location or destination. Its a smaller screen, probably not going to have time to study it on a bike to setup for a corner.
