I'm in the market for a pair of boots before a few long rides this weekend.

I've heard nothing but good things about Sidi from literally everyone so I know what brand they'll be.  The last question is which model.

I have read great things about the Vertigo Corsa's but find them a bit too flashy for someone that will not be on a track for at least a couple of years.

This has led me to the B2's, Strada Air, and Vertigo boots but was looking for further input for a particular model.

Right now I am leaning towards the Strada Air due to the laid back looks.

but the vertigo regs are a sweet deal if you can find them on discount. i THINK i remember someone saying they can be had for under 250. thats a killer deal!
b-2s heard good things too, very affordable. the stradas seem to have less crash protection (touring boot, so to be expected) , but probably very comfortable, and better than street boots of course any day

And did you look at the black ones? They're really not flashy at all, color-wise, and all the armor is only evident when you're sitting around after the ride 

I have black B-2s and I love them, but I haven't anything to compare them to.

I did some more thorough searching here and on several other forums that I follow and settled for a pair of B2's for the marginal extra protection over the Strada's.

Thanks for your input and I'll update with a quick review once I get them.

I got mine for $200 at Newenough a year or so ago.  In black...  And they saved my toes/feet not too long after that, my unarmored knee was not so lucky. 

Spend the money, they are sooo worth it.

I've got a new pair of B2's in size 47/12.5 for sale in the gear for sale forum.  I wear a size 13 and they're too small for me.  I think if you wear a size 12, you'll be golden.

Have Vertigos that I wear every time I get on the bike. I keep spare shoes at work so I don't have to carry them around.

To do all over again, I would have upgraded to the Corsas, even for the extra dollars. Buy the best fitting boot your wallet can afford and you will be happy for it.

I got a pair of the Stavali B2 boots brand new on ebay for $125. don't know if they're last year's style or not, but a great value nonetheless. Luckily, they have not had to prove themselves to me yet (knock on wood), but they are great.
I have the black with the gray trim and quite frankly, under a pair of jeans, they are very low-key.

Going to depend on what type of riding you do, but I myself LOVE my Strada Air boots.
The vents work. They are not waterproof (but will stop water to a point... they have VENTS).
They are VERY protective, but the only replaceable part is the shin gaurd.. If you go down, you might need new boots.
They need to be broken in, and will only stretch slightly, as they are not natural leather, but rather  a lorica outer shell.
The velcro and zipper closure systems are top notch, and very sturdy.
The soles are THIN. Not alot of cushioning at all, and are rather stiff at first, making it tough to feel your rear brake and shifter.
After a few weeks of use, the soles softened up a bit, and I also got used to how things felt. This is probably similar to any new-boot-goofing you may do.
If you're going to be walking around in them, you will want some extra cushioning.
The toe box is a little tight, as it is a euro-boot, and a full in-sole (dr.scholls or something) won't quite fit with your foot in there.
I picked up a "tri-comfort" insole, which is a heal cup, arch support, and ball-of-the-foot gel pad all built into one, with nothing up where your toes are. It worked perfect, and totally changed the boots.
I wore them for 8 hours walking around in the sun and only MILD discomfort in the heat. I don't really like wearing them at work, so i just take them off and walk around in my socks, no big deal here.

IN SUMMARY:
You will love the Strada Evo Air boots. They are very protective. They look great. The vents actually work.
They will need broken in, and you will probably want to pick up a cushioning insole.

also the new vortice (which are rediculously expensive) have added replaceable soles, which the corsas and all other sidis  dont have

after a couple months and 2-3k miles, im developing small bald spots on the balls of my feet, depends on how much you ride and your style of riding im sure

I reckon you've hit the nail on the head...this is basically the rule for all gear....spend the most you can on the best fitting.

I agree...i'm wearing vertigo's and didn't realise the ankle brace was different....I thought the ceramic sliders and carbon shin where the upgrades when I first purchased....now I know better....I'd go the corsa's too!

mate...don't throw them...sidi sell replacement soles and any good shoemaker will resole them for you (and you get a new heel, which wears down from stopping at the lights - and you don't get new heels on the SRS on the Vortice). I've got the bare part (from being on the footpegs) too...but who knows how deep that rubber is!
