Hello,
My name is Timothy Morse. I am a recent transplant from NYC as of the middle of July. I live in SF in the Potrero Hill area. I am contacting the list to 1) introduce myself. 2) find out when and where the bike nights are held in the SF area. 3) Most importantly I need to find someone to do a 18,000 mile service on my monster 2000 ie. I would prefer to give it to an independent wrencher who owns their own shop or a reputable shop that isn't going to cost me a fortune. I am looking to the list to supply me with some options? As a side note I rode the bike from NY to SF and it is documented at: monsterjourney.blogspot.com if anyone is interested. Photos of the trip are on my facebook page ( timothymorse ) Thank you in advance for any help. Sincerely, Timothy Morse

Hey, Tim.  Welcome to the DMF and to SF.  The local group (SF MOB) has a local forum.  Just scan down the main page.  Edit:  http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?board=19.0

The scheduled meet-ups in SF for the monster crowd are the last Thurs of the month at Zeitgeist (Mission district -- Duboce and Valencia).  There are other Ducati bike nights around the Bay Area, but not in SF.  The local group is meeting up in San Jose for a BBQ and tech stuff on Sat if you wanna meet folks.  Check out the local board and PM DanTheMan for directions.  Edit: here's the link:  http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=26549.0

As far as service, the SF crowd pretty much all goes to Desmotosport in SF.  They're independent wrenches and f'n awesome.  They're on 9th St at Howard.  They're cheaper than a dealer but not a huge bargain.  Another excellent shop is Nichols in Milpitas.  They get rave reviews and are significantly cheaper.  It think their 6k service is something like $350.  The downside is that it's going to be a hike for you. You can't go wrong with either Desmoto or Nichols.

Welcome Timothy, I enjoyed your trip report on your blog page. [thumbsup]

You'll probably see far more Ducatis in SF than anywhere else on your travels.

Well, Spidey covered all the important items, hope to see you at one of the local events soon. [beer]

Welcome fellow New Yorker, I transplanted about 5 years ago and now that I have discovered all the roads out here combined with the weather, I'll never move back.....well, maybe never say never  [evil]
