Can anyone recommend a good rearstand for an S2R? I know the pitbull stands are great, but is there another popular option here? Do all rearstands for the SSS mount on either side to allow you to remove the wheel or sprocket?

Thanks again.

I just picked up the PitBull for my SSS S2R800 last weekend, and I'm impressed with how solid it feels and how easily it lifts the bike. There is a pin that slides right into the hub from the left side (left if you are sitting on the bike), but I do not believe the one I bought is the reversible version (completely forgot to ask the day I picked it up, so I'll ask next time I'm in there). I know that the pin for the left side is different from the pin for the right side, but I'm not sure if it can be swapped out on all SSS PitBull stands.

I have a pitbull also. Cost a bit more but really good quality and design.  [thumbsup]

I have one of the t-rex racing stands.  I just checked their website and they seem to be out of stock on them though.  It is an excellent stand for the price; I can't think of anything that needs improvement.

I picked up an Anderson stand for my S2R 800, really well built and solid.

It seems pretty strong as it supports the bike and my fat ass without bending or flexing.

The answer to your question in no.  You really can't go wrong with Pitbull in terms of quality,  but I just don't like the gold color.  Looking back I would have gotten a "Powerstand".  I couldn't find their website but here is a picture of that stand. [thumbsup]

Consider checking out your local board for anyone that has a new bike and happens to have an old stand they don't need.

Last year when I got my S2R my old stand (dual swing arm type) was no longer useful.  I used my local club in TOB to source a used stand for the S2R from one member and sold my dual swing arm stand to a different local member. It was easier, cheaper and faster then buying a new stand and you help out local Duc riders.

The stand I got for the S2R happen to be a T-Rex with two pin options (one for lifting each side). It lifts the bikes easily and its quite solid.

The Pitbull is great, it comes with 2 pins that you swap depending on what side of the wheel you want to access or lift from.

+1 to Mitt's FAQ comment about shops using pitbull. They are amazing. And I'm in love with their forward arm rear stand for SSS ducatis.

They're not listed in our catalog, but we can offer PitBull to DMH'ers. 1st stand is delivered with shipping half off (or roughly MSRP + $15). Buy two stands at the same moment and they ship in the same box -- price becomes MSRP - $15. It works out to about 10% off.

My faves are the NewFront front stand and the forward arm rear stands (single sided) and (dual sided -- but with the SS tops).

It takes pitbull 1 to 5 days, as they essentially build stands to order and then ship via FedEx Ground in a HUGE box that's like 2 feet square and 4 feet tall.

I have both the FG and pitbull reversible stand. They are both great stands. The FG is great when you want to remove the rear wheel. It has a rubber covered rod that locks your wheel in place when you remove the large wheel nut.

But I use the pitbull stand most of the time. It's nice when you want to clean your chain or your rear wheel. Since it's reversible, you can move it to either side while you spin the wheel and clean the opposite side.

Just a heads up, looks like t-rex has them back in stock in black.
They also have gold.
