looking for advice on getting the bike detailed for the summer riding season
im looking for recomendations on people or place that do it and do a good job
ive been told about northside cycles doing it for $200 they give it to a guy close and its a 1/2 day job
anyone no anywhere else

Spider

when I was up there a girl on oxford street offered it for considerably less.....which was strange come to think of it, cause I didn't even have the bike with me.

good luck

Bigfella,

save yourself the $200 and spend a day doing it yourself, then spend the $200 on bling!
You'll get to know your bike much better, I do mine pretty often and always find something to clean.
If you do need someone to do it, I know Flywheels used to have someone who detailed bikes.

You could always ask Big T or Six95 what size tooth brushes they use, they have some pretty clean bikes.

FIFO

   I Will  give it a polish for $200. ;D

Or i should say Detail  the bike.
And give it a good once over.
     pm me. serious ;)

I use the soft bristle tooth brush with the extra reach.....  [thumbsup]  [cheeky]

Seriously it is easy to do your self........

Bucket of warm water with wax car wash....
Paint (tooth) brushes of various sizes to get into all the nooks and crannies.....
Soft cotton damp rag (to wipe where water probably shouldn't go)......
Hose with trigger nozzle on "shower" (to gentle hose off the soapy wash).....
Leaf blower set on blow.....
Soft and cuddle towel (to wipe the virgins down....)......
Mr Sheen applied with cotton jocks (washed first of course).....

Do a section of the bike at a time starting at the top (careful where you spray soap/water hence the "Soft cotton damp rag").....
Use leaf blower to remove water from all the nooks and crannies (carefully).....
Towel off (the virgins love this bit).....
Apply Mr Sheen to all surfaces (excluding brakes of course...) and shin up with the jocks (makes removing road crap easier in the future as well)....

Sit back and admire your work (after a few hours work) over a nice Chai Latte...... [coffee]  [bow_down]

Works for me....  :o  :o  8)  8)

PS: Works for Mountain Bikes as well....

Then another couple on the rest.
Concourse coming up  ;)

I got a helmet visor cleaner recently, might try that on the plastics also.
Could do the same as your Mr Sheen trick.

I cant really offer too much advice as I have never ridden in the wet. My wife knows to go shopping or to sleep once I come back from a ride. I have this OCD thing where I cannot put my baby to bed until it's immaculate.

My bike has never been under the hose either.

It always gets wiped down Meguiars quick detailer then followed by a coat of Mequiars quick wax. Both of these are used on the paint work, trellis and the engine (horizontal cylinder). I take care of any chain spray with wax and grease remover. Damp chamois for the underside, swingarm, wiring and hoses.

There is this cleaner you can get from Big buns called "Muck-off" which I use on the front cyclinder around the header which takes care of most of the baked on grime - and yes - I use an old toothbrush.

In between the fins - I use a paddlepop stick covered in a rag then dipped in wax n grease remover, then repeat with it dipped in water. I only do this to the front cylinder again.

Good Luck.....

I'm sorry ... that's just make the beast with two backsed up!

Seriously I couldn't find a cleaner front cylinder/head thingy on the factory tour ... I shit you not.

OCD ... bullshit, its well past that [laugh] [cheeky]
