Guess Hayden and Ducati kissed and made up! That third place finish at Indy damn sure didn't hurt Nicky's chances at re-signing! [thumbsup]

http://www.cyclenews.com/articles/road-racing/2009/09/03/hayden-signs-with-ducati

I guess they figured if they didn't re-sign him they would be stuck with a bunch of 848 Hayden Replicas!! [laugh]

mistake.  for Hayden and for Ducati.  I've pontificated about why ad nauseam over the last year or so but nothing this year has proved me wrong.

Yes Stoner was the only one and that was 2007... I heard from some inside people who said that the Desmosedici motor is full developed and to do more they have to drop the Desmo system and go with pneumatic valves like the rest of the teams...

Not sure what fully developed means.  Played out on "innovatability"?  Or is it that the perceived shortcomings of the pneumatic valves have been overshadowed by compensating gains within the system?

I think some of that must be that Ducati is the only vendor working on it, and is small, whereas other venodrs have the benefit of having everyone else working off the same fundamental tech?  How do you know when you are at the end of a tech item like this?

i mean the peak of development for this 800cc motor... all engines are.. you just can't be competitive with the same motor for 2-4 in MotoGp you have to try new things...

you at the frames. They try new things pretty much every 2-3 months...

I got in late last night from my sister/brother in law's house (birthday burger cook out) and decided to watch the first WSBK race even though I was pretty tired. Well it was so good I made myself stay up for race 2 and was damn glad I did! Awesome, just f#@king awesome! No race spoilers here but as well as Spies rode yesterday I was even more impressed with Checa. Once in a blue moon he and the CBR/Fireblade just rock! Last year's double at Miller is a good example. Washed up GP rider my ass! Rea wasn't exactly putting around either. [thumbsup] [moto] [bow_down]

True about Cheka but i think the problem is Setup the riders are good.. I think now they wear Ohlins Suspension so we are going to see those Hondas on top again.. Rea might sign with a Factory team next year, maybe Ducati or even Yamaha/Aprilia Factory. And i heard another big team will switch brands...  i suspect they will switch from Either Ducati or Kawasaki to Yamaha (Ben Spies ex Factory bikes with yamaha Support)

Hmmm... interesting. The silly season doesn't stop with the riders, it extends to factories and race teams too. [popcorn]

It may be everyone else's dream, but not mine. If Rossi signed with Ducati for 2011, then he'd be totally insufferable.  Unless he started to lose, which would either be poetic justice, or make me like him as an underdog, I can't decide which....dear god, why won't he sign with Ferrari and just go away?

On a happier note, maybe the engine leasing rule designed to reduce costs will increase competitiveness as well. The current factory/satellite system has unjustly penalized capable riders like Edwards, Elias, DeAngelis, and DePuniet by artificially withholding development, parts, and engines. When everyone has to build their own frames around leased engines, some interesting privateer entries might emerge.

Will never happen... Rossi is a HUGE Superstar, Ducati Wants as much attention as they can get.... if Rossi Wins will be Rossi who won not the Ducati... This is the Reason he left Honda and in his book he says that Ducati asked him to sign too but they do like a lot of PR and is int to this stuff... hahahah

I would love to see Rossi on a Suzuki, see what he can do with it...

O.K., so this isn't exactly race-related but it is pretty damn cool.

Not sure I'd want an automatic transmission on my sportbike but it does sound like the new DSG will have a fully "manual" mode in there somewhere as well...

i think the 3 mode would be cool... when you are lazy and tour the auto clutch will be one less thing to keep track when you ride.. then you want to ride harder switch to Manual and rip through the gears!

I rode the FJR with automatic clutch............hated it, felt like it was going to stall around turns.  of course, this setup is different but Yamaha quit making that version because no one bought it.  just saying.

If I had a boulevard cruiser, and by that I mean an HD or the japanese version, I might be interested. I like changing gears too much while riding around 'town' in a sporty fashion to give it up.
