i've seen those guys when i lived up in TN --> IT IS AWESOME. They have parts ground clear off the bike and stuff. Ate a burger with one of the guys who explained the goldwing as the "cbr on 'roids" (referring to its "sportbike nature" while "linebacker size").

Grew up in Franklin (South of Nashville), school in Memphis for engineering. Lots of weekends in East TN to play in the mountains and I got to ride the Gap a few times. From Nashville, its only 3 hours either direction to the other cities, Knoxville, Chattanooga, and Memphis. Riding in Memphis is kind of like riding in Dallas, except its a lot faster to get out into the middle of nowhere and some back country roads. FYI, there is a place called Bucksnort, TN, and it has a gas station, and that gas station makes good sandwiches.

Secret: Dax and I talk about cruisers. Ok, there, I'm out.
Dax showed me this vid last year at his Christmas party and I was blown away. I'd love a wing sans 200lbs (and don't say my fat arse!!) to play with. 1800cc's is nothing to blow off and with a litlle tuning WOAH!! I'll tell my story of the wing staying up with me on my ST4s till around 135 if you want. Or did I just do that?  ???

like T said, it's all about the rider.  I've seen idiots on both cruisers and sportbikes do things I still to this day cannot understand.  The Wing is certainly in a class of it's own if you want to combine the two.

RED, check out High 5 Cycles where they have a few for decent prices or go to Maxim in Allen.

If you go to High 5 ask for Quincy, tell him Brian with the Hayden Rep and broken neck sent you! Better still, see Leslie Porterfield. She's much better looking and also the World's Fastest woman!! Look for her with "Flo" in Geico ads in the bike mags. 232mph on her turbo Busa at Bonnie. [clap]

If you go to Maxim see Matt Maschmann, he's the Manager... known him since the early 80s. Hell of a good road racer. [moto] Maxim is a Honda Powersports dealership like Al Lambs, they just don't put it on their sign out front. In fact the dealership is kinda hidden behind some big ass store on the west side service road of 75. It's next to the Allen HD dealership so you can't miss it.

Both guys are good folk! [thumbsup]

One of the most impressive things I've seen on a group ride was a guy on an insanely NIMBLE Rocket III.  Really twisty road, a few wide open straights... The guy was friggin' GONE.  Sparks flying off the floor boards... The whole thing  :o

And just to give you a bit of perspective: Giannis AND Jari were both on the ride as well... Slow guys.

NOT!  [evil]

svoloch

on a hill country ride, we had way too hard a time getting around a fast as shit guy on a goldwing with a freakin' trailer hitch.  Granted, our fastest people were not in the lead, but this guy was absolutely hauling, and sparking shit left and right off the FLOORBOARDS of his FREAKIN' GOLDWING.

Anyone recall that little tidbit but me?  Not sure which one it was...  I think it was the one where Will walked up a little to quickly on me in his spiderman underoos in the Jacuzzi.  Every since then, we've collected ICE info AND boundary agreements.

Yeah, collecting I.C.E. info for excursions into the Jaquzzi is prolly not a bad idea... And definitely establish some no-fly zones for electric toothbrushes.

You should check out the Honda episode on Twist the Throttle on HDNet. Freddie Spenser had a hand in developing that bike to what it is today. The engineer in charge of the GoldWing project kept saying it was just a large sportbike with amenities attached. I want one!

Big D Cycles has a classic Goldwing in their showroom. Like one big ass standard, not too different in shape and proportions from the rest of their cool old bikes.

Speaking of which, they also have a Mike Hailwood Replica right next to a MH900e. (The MH900e is me dream bike, you naysayers and your 'it has electrical problems' and 'the oil sump is just a decorative shroud' be damned!)

Don't forget about the small fuel tank and lack of power [thumbsup]

But by far the best looking Duc I have seen.....  I would love to have on too....

I hear those original Hailwood Reps are pretty nice. ;D
