So this past weekend at Motorsports Park Hastings in Nebraska(AWESOME track if you ever get a chance, GO!), I noticed a tiny guy wandering around the pits before the rider's meeting in an A-Stars suit.
He sat through the beginners meeting and then disappeared. SO I am out on the track flying around with a couple of control riders when one of them waves me off the race line. OK...we are flippin' flying but whatever...

Next thing I know, this tiny white bike screams past me and into turns 1 and 2 and is GONE.
Skip ahead to the next intermediate session and there goes the same little white bike screaming along with a couple of control riders pushing HARD to keep up on a liter bike and a 600.

Turns out, lil guy is a 12 year old racer who is currently competing for 4, yes 4 regional titles in junior classes and who will recieve his expert license at the beginning of next season. He is running an RS125 and is flippin FAST! I could smokehim in the straights but couldn't carry half the speed he could through the corners. Just insane.

Funny thing is his little brother who is 10 is reputed to be just as fast but is too young to ride with his brother.

Tryin to track down some info about him now and will post up more when I find it...

there are 4 or 5 of these guys, 2 in particular, that i see out at Willow Springs all the time.  ridiculous fast.  not fast for a little kid, just retarded fast.

same bikes.  LOVE watching those little dudes.  it's amazing.

I mean I pride myself in my form...got good body position and I flow smoothly through corners and tend to be pretty predictible but this kid was as smooth as a 50 year old bottle of Port.

I had a similar experience with a kid named Peter Lenz, but his bike was an RS125 frame with a CRF150R motor in it and I was doing a Code school at Barber and he comes around me in the 2nd to last turn after the bridge and carrying so much speed and leaned over so far, he had to remember to pick his elbow up when it started scraping...he was about to turn 11 at the time and his dad was a little worried about him with a full on 125GP bike ( moreso because he was just generally worried about his kid, except when he was goofing and wrestling around in the pits while Dad was wrenching)...that kid was also blazingly stupid fast....

yup.. peter is one of the two i was talking about.

 

I gotta find a pic of the T-shirts they had made up when earlier this year, the fast guys in the AFM got slaughtered by 15 y/o Elena Myers.

they're about to have to update 'em (and make a LOT more)...

she turns 16 in november and will be racing in the ama series next year.

I'll buy one when they say "I got spanked by a 16 y/o girl."
