Great buy Tommy!! How'd you get it so cheap? That bike should be worth a lot more than $3K. That's a deal. Too bad it isn't a 750. That's the best of both worlds. Handles like a 600 but with the punch of a bigger bike but not scary fast 1000cc punch. I've never tracked it but I love my '05 Gixxer 750, it's set up just like my 1000. Great scooters.

OK, now back to your normal broadcast Ducati programing.

Salvage title, he low-sided it at Oak Hill and claimed it on his insurance.  So I got a "track bike" (no original fairings or lights).  Doesn't bother me, all I wanted was a cheap good track bike.... But I still think I got a decent deal....

A recent article in Visordown magazine went through the process of bikes once they are stolen. In this instance a guy's bike was stolen and he got it back 5 years later....un-ridden for the most part. What the thieves do is to sell the paper to the bike and frame numbers to someone who wants a street/stolen bike registered and legal. In return another bike is 'created' (aka track bike) which is sold (via salvage title after insurance pays off) as a track bike. In essence there are now two bikes that can be legally registered. Some of the bikes were traced to WSK in Europe. Crafty vermin those thieves!

I know....any suggestions?  Ohlins kits are about $1700 for front, and $1400 for the new rear....  Granted, I'll have a very capable track bike for just over $6000, but do I have other options?

Talk to the owner Kevin and tell him who you are and what you did for him. Then ask him about the suspension work he does for most of the CMRA top level riders. The cost will astound you compared to Ken Ohlins' parts.
